Who are our @CalCommColleges students? Why do we insist on fitting our students into a 2-year junior college transfer model? We need policies that support our diverse students, their diverse needs, & their individual goals as defined by them. #caleg #cabudget #COMMUNITYcollege 👇

Corequisite courses aim to support students, but the accelerated pace and heavy workload aren’t effective for everyone. Latinx and Black students, who enroll in these courses at higher rates, face lower completion rates due to inadequate support. This system isn’t working—let’s advocate for real solutions. #EquitableAccessWeek #HigherEd #TrustEducators #CalCommunityColleges #StudentSuccess

Flexibility Matters: Many students thrive under AB 705 and AB 1705, but not all. FACCC doesn’t want to change placement rules or mandate remediation—we just want to create flexibility for students who need additional support. Stand-alone pre-transfer courses can ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. #EquitableAccessWeek #TrustEducators #HigherEd #CalCommunityColleges

California community college students deserve options to succeed in math and English! FACCC is sponsoring legislation to: ✅ Allow enrollment in standalone pre-transfer courses if appropriate ✅ Support co-requisite models and oppose mandatory placement into remediation Let’s ensure students struggling with transfer-level coursework have access to the support they need to stay in college and thrive. This #EquitableAccessWeek, join the conversation about how we can create pathways that meet students where they are. #StudentSuccess #HigherEd #CaLeg #TrustEducators #CalCommunityColleges

California has chosen experienced, principled leaders like George Whitesides and Adam Schiff as our advocates and representatives even in challenging political times.

We can count on Whitesides and Schiff to be voices of reason - to seek bipartisan common ground where possible, but also to ask the tough questions and hold those in power accountable. They will fight for the issues that matter to Californians.

If you’re feeling anxious about the impact of the recent election on our rights and freedoms, consider making a difference by donating to the ACLU. They work tirelessly to protect civil liberties and ensure that everyone’s voice is heard, no matter the outcome.

FACCC President Wendy Brill-Wynkoop received a warm welcome at College of the Redwoods during their annual Fall Convocation, a signature event marking the start of the semester and the academic year. The visit was made even better by connecting with FACCC Board Member Michelle Haggerty, Governor for Contract Faculty at College of the Redwoods. We're grateful for the invitation to this beautiful campus! #TrustEducators #HigherEd

Today’s Mt. SAC Legislative Roundtable event was an incredible success, providing a valuable opportunity for California community college faculty to connect, engage, and discuss critical issues with @AsmMikeFong, Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee. It was a fantastic chance to dive deep into current legislation and advocacy efforts aimed at reshaping the mission of our community colleges. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to such meaningful conversations. We’re grateful to @MSACFA and @MtSAC for hosting today’s discussion! #TrustEducators #CaLeg #HigherEd

🚨 "One-size-fits-all" doesn’t work for education! 🚨 In this recent @FutureEdGU report, FACCC President Wendy Brill-Wynkoop emphasizes the need for flexible solutions, highlighting the struggles faced by older students and students of color, who often withdraw from courses they don't feel prepared for. “We have the most diverse group of students on earth in California community colleges, and what we’ve been backed into is a one-size-fits-all,” she says. @Windo #TrustEducators #HigherEd

More than two-thirds of community #college students took remedial courses in the 2000s. But #HigherEd data must become more transparent to see where changes to developmental education have yet to take root. Learn more in our latest report. future-ed.org/incomplete-the…
