Spoiler ... Jared and NASA get no say in this. It was decided in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union, which is an advisory body. If you want to call Pluto a planet, go ahead. If you want to call it Fred, go ahead. IAU says it's a dwarf planet. There are five.

@julia_bergeron @kmreed NASA has found from decades of ISS experience that astronauts need about 2-3 hours of resistance exercises in microgravity to avoid muscle atrophy. That knowledge is now being applied to the Artemis II mission.

@kmreed They probably need an outlet for their energy more than they want to exercise. 😅 Floating is an exercise in finding anchor points and not bumping into things. We have something they don't- the ability to walk off our energy and the space to do it.

I have never heard of people who want to exercise so badly…. Then again, I’m not an astronaut, I’m not in a capsule the size of a minivan for 9 days, and well I’ve never been excited to exercise (ask my beer belly).

The franchise was the Palm Springs Angels. It moved to the Diamond for the 1994 season. We won the Cal League pennant in 1996. The affiliation ended after the 2000 season. We went to RC, the Padres to LE, which made more sense.

@yag1968 @Lori_Garver They didn't give up on the moon. They created Project NextSTEP so the private sector could take over cislunar operations. Much of Artemis traces back to NextSTEP. Contracts are issued out of NextSTEP all the time.

@WordsmithFL @Lori_Garver I am not sure that we disagree on that portion. I am just saying that the Obama Administration gave up on the Moon which was a mistake.

Sadly, these messages undermine public support for the mission & agency. The (perceived?) requirement to constantly credit Trump make bipartisanship & progress harder. Disingenuous attack on Obama since @NASAAdmin knows CxP wasn't getting us anywhere & Obama got us Crew Dragon.

@yag1968 @Lori_Garver The point being that they were developing technology to loop beyond the moon to demonstrate the capability of going to an asteroid and eventually Mars. You can disagree all you want but that's the historical record.
