How Now Brown Cow Announces Powerful 2026 Winter Theatre Season in South Africa Winter in South Africa usually involves us collectively deciding to hibernate and complaining about the price of electricity. However, How Now Brown Cow is actually giving us a reason to put on a jacket and leave the house for their 2026 Winter season. They are bringing two heavy-hitters to Cape Town and Johannesburg. First up is Constellations. Imagine a physicist and a beekeeper meeting at a braai. It is a story about the multiverse but without the capes and bad CGI. It explores the infinite possibilities of a relationship - what happens if they stay together, and what happens if they do not. Directed by Jay Pather and starring Mark Elderkin and Mwenya Kabwe, this is proper theatre that asks those "what if" questions we all have after a few double brandies. Then there is the South African premiere of Prima Facie. If you have been tuned in to global theatre news, you will know this play was a massive deal in London and on Broadway. It is a hard-hitting look at the legal system through the eyes of a brilliant barrister who suddenly finds herself on the other side of the witness stand. Directed by Neil Coppen and starring Danica De La Rey Jones, this production is particularly urgent given the state of our country. It is a necessary conversation about how the law treats victims of sexual violence. They are also teasing a new family drama called The Graduation of K-C for November, which looks at the shared histories of Ireland and South Africa. Stop scrolling and go see some actual humans on a stage. It is better for your soul and your social life. You can book for both Constellations and Prima Facie on Webtickets now.
