Today must be a great day to say hi to all of Japan and hope like minded people find me. 🇺🇲🤝🇯🇵
I care about CRT monitors. I care about Japanese videogames. I help by making test patterns for systems like MegaDrive and Super Famicom to help setup your CRT correctly. You can find my work in 240p Test Suite.
I'm even practicing techniques to make my own MegaDrive game, as MegaDrive is my favorite.
I long to understand more about the subtle differences of domestic Japanese CRTs. If you have experience with CRTs, especially with what Ikegami calls "Special NHK Phosphor" I'd love to find the exact CIE coordinates. If you own a colorimeter or have any interesting documentation, I'd love to see it.

(that's $10k if you're American and forfeits a lot of things if you ever go back)

New laws in Japan will make it almost impossible to gain citizenship if you aren't born there. You have to live in Japan for 10 years just to qualify, followed by strict screenings given on a case-by-case basis.

@beeeemooooo @Gaming4all98 There were literally a ton of ps2 to 3 ports back in the day, this idea of it needs to be remade in unity is a relatively new thing.

@Gaming4all98 The fact that it took us this long is probably why this isn’t as simple as you think
So far, i haven’t seen any straightforward port from the PS2-PS3 era. Most “ports” actually require them to rebuild the game in a modern engine while salvaging the game logic and assets

apple had a server line (XServe) but discontinued it because they had no advantage over other servers. nobody bought them
with Apple Silicon there's a real reason for Apple servers to exist - imagine an M3 Ultra but designed without desktop thermal/power constraints in mind
