The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time. The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more. But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.

The bad right-wing critiques of OBAA depend on not noticing the ways the film mocks the French 75, and the bad left-wing critiques depend on not noticing the clear contrasts that the film draws between the French 75 and the immigrants' underground mutual aid network.

OBAA’s portrayal of right wingers is indeed cartoonish, but the “communist agitprop” label seems misplaced given most of its far leftists are barely competent & more interested in violence than social change. The actually effective anti-establishment movement in the film is run by the Mexicans whose family & community network for sheltering migrants stands in stark comparison to the chaotic French 75, and reinforces the theme of the importance of family.

What did socialism look like in practice for Kasparov? He ONLY got elite, state-funded training in chess with a full team of specialists, world champion status and fame, tons of money, apartment and most importantly, after the collapse, his entire career in the West as an anti-socialist crusader. Some thoughts on Talarico vs Crockett: 1. "It's my turn" style political logic seems totally dead. It was already mostly dead - Obama beat Hillary, Trump won over the GOP, Kamala underperformed, a dozen other examples. But there's just no audience for that any more. 2. Crockett was a bad candidate independent of her identity markers. There are plenty of black and/or female politicians who overperform in WAR terms. Crockett did poorly because of Crockett, not because she was a black woman. 3. With that said, the messaging around her campaign (often from her biggest online fans) focused heavily on her identity or "her turn" logic. Black/women candidates, to my eyes, seem to do best when they don't focus their campaigns on identity. 4. "Blue MAGA" is a phrase that gets thrown around sometimes, but this primary shows that the Democratic party is still far more strategic and disciplined than the Republican party. Egotistical campaigns aren't rewarded in the same way. If-you're-not-with-me-you're-against-me stuff doesn't play the same way. 5. The morning after, there's some bitterness from diehard Crockett fans. I suspect this is mostly a social media thing, and don't think it will influence the general. It matters that Talarico himself is gracious and open and talks all the time about appealing to everyone. The tone for these things is set at the top. 6. Campaign quality still matters. Crockett's campaign did not have a formal campaign manager! She wasn't running ads! She said she didn't want or need Trump voters in a red state! Talarico ran a great campaign and Crockett ran a miserable one.

@housedim1trescu Really have no idea what brought them to basically make what felt like a DLC game just to milk RE2 assets, like why. I guess they didn't have enough faith that RE3 would be as popular as 2/4, idk. It definitely deserves a directors cut, now it's a black mark on the recent games.

@coopercooperco @HeylKatme The ps4 emulator is fantastic now for bloodborne. Played through the entire game + DLC last year in 1080p/60fps with minimal issues. The emu is probably much better now too.
