@trikomes I have exactly the same experience. Aside from topical steroids, sunlight is the only thing that works.

I get psoriasis on my elbows. It responds to UV sunlight reliably, but only when it’s sufficiently intense. A whole summer of daily UV 3-5 conditions in the Pacific NW has a marginal effect, but a single afternoon of UV 6-7 has a dramatic effect. Left: what it looks like during a Seattle winter. Right: After a single afternoon in Mexico. Lighting conditions aren’t the same but it’s pretty clear.

I had psoriasis all over the parts of my body that didnt get sunlight, then i started - fasting - spacing my meals 6 hours apart with no snacking - lowering bf% and now its gone

If you're interested in various amino acids, my Foodulator shows you a bunch of details and ratios for USDA entries. E.g. check out foods.exfatloss.com/food/168896: BCAA (branch chain amino acids) EAA (essential amino acids) SAA (sulfuric amino acids) ILE+VAL Various ratios involving glycine ...

The amino acid composition and digestibility of proteins varies quite a bit across individual protein sources, as well as between plant vs. animal foods generally. As a result, different anabolic responses will be stimulated in skeletal muscle depending on the protein source.

You know in War of the Worlds when it was a tiny organic bug 🦠 that took out the alien killing machines? 👾💥 Well… dystopian New Zealand is starting to feel like an alien invasion ….by politicians…. So I’m calling out to all you little uncontrollable pests 🐞🐜🪲 — be organically human . Say NO: 🚫 to surveillance 🚫 to digital ID 🚫 to forced medical interventions 🚫 to GMO in our food It doesn’t matter if you’re just one person — a little stone in the cog of the wider system can totally cock things up. 💪🌱 plus you will be happier. 🥰 now go and get some cash out and tip the next person who makes you a coffee. 💵💸💶💴

Reduce Linoleic Acid like an Economist Very cool post by @tyleransom. I especially dig his "hierarchy of seed oils": 1. Direct seed oils (deep fried foods, salad dressing, ..) 2. Indirect seed oils (chips/pretzels/crackers, most bread, UPF, ..) 3. (name???) Pork, chicken, and nuts which are high in LA despite being "whole foods" I would actually separate the pork/chicken from nuts and seeds because the animals' fat profile depends on the feed, whereas nuts/seeds don't. So I'd have: 1. Direct seed oils 2. Indirect seed oils 3. Transitive (?) seed oils (pork/chicken) 4. "Natural" seed oils (nuts/seeds) @TuckerGoodrich @SeedOilDsrspctr any thoughts on how to categorize these and better naming? I think the distinctions are somewhat important because people like to 1. confuse them and 2. say "nuts are natural -> I can eat deep fried foods" tyleransom.substack.com/p/an-economist…

Apparently if I: - Don't keep a tight eating window (4ish hours) - Wait too late in the day to eat (get too hungry) - Don't take my scoop of @ketobrainz On a high protein diet (1:1) then my mental health status rapidly declines. Very kool. I at least stopped getting hungrier after eating by adding much eggs to my ground beef (emulsifying what fat there is? idk) at the recommendation of health coach I gained initial weight (2kg) and stabilized.. so far.

@_benjamin_king @dr7645 @exfatloss Well there will always be anecdotes for any diet including (literally) the Twinkie diet. I’m looking for something beyond anecdotes. I know that makes the example above nothing more than an example / illustration, not proof.

@theproof Everyone I've ever spoken to who is eating Carnivore is well aware that there is no modern nutrition on it. Do you really think the average carnivore believes there's lots of research on it??

We have no long term safety data on carnivore diets. Patients adopting this diet long term are the experiment without knowing and without giving their consent.

@oldmanskin68 No. When dry fasting, I didn't eat or drink anything. When fasting with fluid restriction, the fluid was all I consumed. When mass restricting I consumed a limited total weight of combined food and drink.

@exfatloss Whoops I managed to ignore the content of the post while I was wondering about how you and others seem to maintain lean mass while lowering protein.

Bodybuilder reduces protein, PUFA intake: metabolic rate increases by 1,000-1,500kcal/day
Thermobolic@Thermobolic

I made a ton of dietary changes in the beginning of the year - which resulted in increasing my metabolic rate and drastically increasing my maintenance calories from around 2000-2500 to around 3500. Here's a list: I used to eat 300g protein / day of mostly meat. I reduced protein intake to 150-200g / day. Now I get most of my protein from dairy - primarily skim milk. I used to be carb-phobic and thought carbs made you fat. I tried to limit carbs to 150g / day or less (the less the better). Now I usually get in 300-400+g. I used to avoid sugar like the plague, including fruit. Now I eat fruit with every meal and often snacks between meals. I didn't know about PUFAs and ate mostly nuts as my fat source. Now I avoid PUFAs, including nuts, and get almost all of my fat from saturated sources - primarily coconut oil and heavy cream. Also cheese. Before, I thought saturated fat was bad - it's not. I've discovered that limiting fat, besides coconut oil, drastically increases my metabolic rate. Now, I include most of my dietary fat in my last meal of the day, which is low carb. ^ I've starting avoiding mixing fats and carbs in meals. Most of my meals are high carb, low fat. - I don't count coconut oil and eat it with many meals. I discovered that coconut oil drastically increases my metabolic rate. I eat 30g 3-4x per day. Coconut oil is mostly MCT's which are quickly and easily burned for fuel, much like glucose. Not dietary really, but I used to fear the sun. I'm light complected and didn't want to burn. Since eliminating PUFAs, I don't burn and get out in the sun, shirtless, as much as possible. I often take sun breaks while working and just walk around in the back yard for 10-15 minutes. I also lay out (tan) several times per week. I believe sunlight provides energy and boosts metabolic rate. Another thing - it seems like things that digest slowly also lower metabolic rate. Fats (besides coconut oil), fiber, and meat all seem to slow things down. I do eat fiber, fats and meat, but I normally limit them until evening. During the day, I try to keep my metabolism as ramped up as possible. Note: (before you say, "You're on exogenous hormones!") I'm on 50mcg T3 and have been for years (5 or more). I'm sure the T3 helps, but I was on the 50mcg for years and still only able to maintain on 2000-2500 calories. I'm also on TRT (200mg / week) and have been for 10 years. I'm 6' 230 lbs now and then.
