@Timoldland The Honda e had 100mi range for a £30k price (quickly rising to £37k). When a MINI electric was £24k & had 120mi range. Poor value. This has better range & a lower price 6 years later. I preferred the Honda E style though.

Controversial opinion: all us car people absolutely love the Honda Super-N, because we love Kei and quirky things. But once again Honda is releasing an EV with awful range that’s too expensive (128 miles, £20k). They’ll sell a handful, just like the ‘e’.

@Fat_Jacques Supermarket chargers are not 75p nearer 54p. That’s the average price of u;tra-rapid chargers. Now re-do the comparison where you only buy petrol from motorway service stations at 1.82p/litre. Like for like.

Think hard about a BEV if you can’t charge at home: Peugeot e-208 (BEV) vs Peugeot 208 1.2 PureTech (petrol) — real-world mixed driving • e-208: ~4.2 miles per kWh → 17.9p per mile at 75p/kWh. • 208 petrol: ~48 MPG → 15.0p per mile at £1.58/litre. The petrol version is cheaper on “fuel” by about 2.9p per mile (roughly 16% lower cost per mile) when charging at this public rapid rate. Over 10,000 miles, that’s around £290 in favour of petrol.

@PaulNissanEV @eV_Newt @Synchronicity34 @W98AB 1830kg for single motor EX30, 1943kg for awd. Mondeo was 1850kg according to search (I was previously told 1.9t, but I think the website I read had rounded up). Still, the point stands. Most EVs are not significantly heavier than common ICE cars.

Car manufacturers psyoped the entire world into buying super heavy EVs. Just after they solved the combustion engine. You could put 300/400/500k miles on the diesel cars they were produced in the 2010s. Now everyone is back to buying new cars frequently with high cost repairs.

@eV_Newt @Synchronicity34 @W98AB My Volvo EX30 is 1.8t which is 100kg lighter than a Ford Mondeo. Did anyone write moral-panic stories about Ford Mondeo’s collapsing bridges, car parks or making pot holes? No. Because it’s all FUD.

@W98AB eVs aren’t much (if at all) heavier than the fossil equivalent car. Take a Tesla Model 3. It’s ~1750kg my wife’s Fiat 500e less again. A Renault 5 is ~1400kg. What is heavy is Range Rovers and the likes. eVs are much more reliable than iCe cars. By a long way.

In 2007, there was a popular opinion that nobody will use a phone without a mechanical keyboard. This is identical. Anyone who drives a Tesla knows that a well-designed touchscreen is far better than a million buttons and knobs.

She was beautiful, brave, strong, and an actual hero. She wasn't DEPRESSED. She was happy. She fell in love with a man and he with her. That's the story of MOST GIRLS AND WOMEN. Nobody complained that she was a woman. Nobody called her “problematic” for being feminine or attractive. The movie made over $800 million worldwide. Men bought tickets in droves. Women did too. So spare me the excuses, lady. If your movie flops, it won’t be because men “own women’s bodies.” It’ll be because it’s probably shit — just like most of the recent girlboss flops. Wonder Woman proved that audiences have zero problem with strong female leads. We just have a problem with unlikeable, preachy, or poorly written ones.

Morbius was released 4 years ago today on April Fool’s Day. After becoming an internet meme, the film was re-released in theaters due to viral demand, but the second run also underperformed, turning the whole situation into part of its legacy.

The “EV subsidies” argument is an idiot’s fallacy. Every major technology transition had early support. Cars had roads built for them. Railways were subsidised. Aviation, heavily backed. Fossil fuels still receive massive tax advantages. Early support = transition is underway.

@eV_Newt @colinwalker79 My EX 30 goes in for its first two year service today, but I do not expect the dealership to have any more information than I do. Considering the ongoing lawsuit with the battery supplier is for billions, it would cost Volvo little to replace our batteries anyway under warranty.
