I've come across two people this week proclaiming NI low unemployment rate. This is misleading. We have many people unavailable for work: on health waiting lists; carers; people with trauma issues; parents unable to access childcare; disabled; weak skills because of selective schooling. Better to consider employment rate.

@C_Fitz_ New Year is absolutely the worst time for all this resolution malarky. Its dark and its cold. We should be slowing down and hibernating. If one was a bit in to the Woo Woo the Spring Equinox is really the only appropriate time for all that new year, new me!

I find January really tough. Over the years I have come up with wee tweaks to make it feel a bit easier. This year I'm going back to work on the 7th. It feels much gentler. I also don't write down my thoughts / aims for 2026 until the end of the month. I hate the overwhelm of NY.

This ludicrous Telegraph piece calls the bonus Labour’s bit.ly/4j2gEwg it was introduced in 1972 by Edward Heath (Conservative) and was worth far more than a week’s pension which was £6.75. It has never been cancelled by any govt (Conservative or Labour) or uprated.

A @BBCRadio4 news reader just said @Conservatives would reinstate the "two child cap on child benefit" if it is scrapped. The two child limit applies to the child element of UC **NOT** child benefit. The reporting around this has been altogether atrocious. It drives me crazy!
