The underlying question remains: why?

Again, I’ve to say IF MDP was not able to recover after Anni left, then doesn’t it bring us to question the capability of other leaders? No it’s not a sufficient condition for allegiance. Maybe necessary, but not sufficient. But before getting bogged down in definitions isn’t it true that a membership that is only days old on the eve of an election is far more likely to be susceptible to outside influence or simply an agent in an attempt to game the election and therefore detrimental to the integrity of the party?

Glad you raised this issue. A static rule like this serves not only to prevent subversion of party integrity, but also to prevent the inevitable mistrust invited upon leadership when eligibility rules are decided arbitrarily. From what I hear something like this was proposed a while ago, but certain influential members objected to it. I wonder if we could dive into party records and get to the bottom of it.
