reminder that the bcrypt hash function ignores input above a certain length! so if you do bcrypt(username || password) for some reason, a sufficiently long username will make it accept any password. to fix this you can sha256 the input first.

Most of cryptography research is developing a really nice mental model for what’s possible and impossible in the field, so you can avoid wasting time on dead ends. But every now and then someone kicks down a door and blows up that intuition, which is the best kind of result.

[Thread - 1/14] Si è parlato molto a seguito dell'aggiornamento dei ToS di WA del tema della privacy e della migrazione in massa verso altri lidi, #telegram e #signal in primis. Ma se il secondo è un'ottima scelta, il primo per certi versi è peggio, per diversi motivi ⤵️
