Banning Israelis from a football game? I was a Premier League Chairman for many years, and I’ll tell you now there was no way I’d have put up with any of this poison at my club. Just wouldn’t have it. It’s football. We do not need, or want, this divisiveness in our sport. The vast majority of fans aren’t interested. Rightly so, they want to watch their team, enjoy a beer or two and get away from it all. Debates at half time about what’s happening in Gaza? No thanks. Don’t care. It’s football, it’s sport, it’s supposed to be fun. We don’t need to drag politics and world affairs into every corner of people’s lives. Just leave fans alone to moan about the manager or the chairman. They certainly found the time to do that at Southampton… Good. Anything but politics. Keep it out of football. If Israelis want to come and watch this Villa team? The message should be good for them. Welcome to England, enjoy the game.

This is a national disgrace. How have things come to this? Starmer pledged that Jews are welcome and safe in Britain. That he stands shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community and will use the full force of his government to prove it. Will he back those words with action and guarantee that Jewish fans can walk into any football stadium in this country? If not, it sends a horrendous and shameful message: there are parts of Britain where Jews simply cannot go.

Today, the same club have been forced by the local authorities to salute modern day Nazism. We lay no blame on Villa - it would absolutely not be safe to allow thousands of Jews to walk around Aston and its surroundings. Why that may be so should trouble the entire country. It must also be said that following the announcement, we have been inundated with Villa fans happy to give up their seats to travelling Tel Aviv supporters.”

@edsuh Agree. I actually think it’s very hard to do this cross sector. Vertical secondary marketplaces might better manage IR as a service.

There is a huge opportunity for someone to build a high quality secondary marketplace for private companies. The existing ones are rife with issues: lack of transparency, hyper-aggressive sales tactics, lack of understanding of the underlying assets & seller universe, & inability to actually qualify & curate opportunities. Most of them have no idea what's being "sold" on their platforms and who is listing them. It's true that there is a cold start problem. It's also hard to build trust, and avoid adverse selection. But there has to be a better mechanism, managed by a team that actually understands & knows the venture & growth ecosystem. There is a ton of latent demand and supply, and it's growing over time. Whoever gets this right has the opportunity to build an enormous marketplace.

Listened to Mia Schem, who was held captive for 54 days by Hamas. Although it is still difficult for her to talk about the horrors of her time in captivity, she made clear her struggle to regain hope. The U.S. will continue its leadership to bring home all of the hostages.

There is very little chance of a seed fund return 3x net (3.5x-4.0x gross depending on fees/recycling) w/o at least one $1B+ exit returning 1 - 1.5x of fund or higher. I know it's mathematically possible, but practically speaking it doesn't happen.

3a) The answer is because Israel is an easier target for YOU. Let's call it "ad targeting for virtue signaling" -- if you criticize Russia it does nothing, if you criticize China it does nothing. Israel, being a democracy, being small, easy target.

3) Why, in the years I've followed these tech leaders, are they stepping up to condemn Israel but are not vocal when autocratic regimes carry out similar missions? Why are they not condemning Russia? Cont...

2) I agree it's devastating and maybe even cynical that Israel is pressed to develop this capability, but why aren't you taking a step back and asking why it's necessary in the first place?
