@CardioNP @varadmehta It turns out it isn’t especially hard to remove hair. I started shaving when I was a teenager & stayed clean-shaven for years. When I let my goatee grow, I discovered I like having a goatee more than I care about helping people pretend the world is simpler than it is.

@unclebobmartin I don’t think Trust No Programmers But Me is workable either though. I trust some programmers, especially the ones I’ve personally worked with & know the integrity of. I purposefully build my community, because community is what serves us.

@bethcodes Programmers are no less political and agenda driven than anyone else. I don’t think “Trust all Programmers” is a workable idea. As for whether a programmer should trust me, that’s their decision. Many seem to have made it in my favor, for which I am grateful.

It is interesting to me how fascism requires people to betray their most deeply-held & deeply-professed values. One can build a whole brand around “software craftsmanship” & still end up stanning for private equity that actively forbids engineers from building software well.

@unclebobmartin Maybe code quality doesn’t matter after all🤷(though the empty timelines suggest otherwise) But if you don’t trust or respect programmers, I don’t see why they should trust that your advice would be good for them to follow.

@bethcodes I don’t know anyone who worked, or works, at twitter. I have heard horror stories but I don’t trust them. Too much politics. Too many agendas. Too much sneering. All I can do is go by the results I see. Twitter works better for me now than before.

@unclebobmartin Engineers were asked to accomplish something that it wasn't clear was possible, and they succeeded by doing exactly what we know produces good software we can be proud of.

@bethcodes You seem to be insinuating something about the code quality at twitter. I haven’t read it, have you? Perhaps you are inferring that Musk’s policies lead to poor code quality. I don’t trust much of the reporting on that issue. Too many axes being ground.

@unclebobmartin I barely cared about Elon Musk before this: I'd even tried to buy a Tesla roof. But programmers gossip like Rachel Lynde, and my allegiance will always be to my fellow programmers over billionaires.

@unclebobmartin I know people who worked there at the time it was purchased. "Lines of code written" was used to judge productivity, which made people who write e2e tests look great & people who wrote in elegant languages get fired. I also know people who have worked at Tesla & SpaceX.
