@DonnieCollinsTT yes, exactly. they didn’t do anything to what is a glaring weak spot. not sure why. they have nobody suitable in Scranton. Not sure if there is anybody coming from Trenton to Scranton for the season that may be able to slide in after some more experience.
English

@bruning_ron They know they're weak offensively at 3B. But they don't have anyone better. I said I thought they should have made a run at Eugenio Suarez for the $15 million Cincy paid him. Then I was told "but...he's a bad defender." OK.
Reminder: Mike Schmidt isn't walking through the door.

I can’t believe the Yankees got this guy for Vivas. Liñan has real potential.
Andrew Golden@andrewcgolden
The Washington Nationals are acquiring INF Jorbit Vivas from the New York Yankees and sending pitching prospect Sean Paul Liñan back to New York, per sources. Vivas debuted and played 29 games for New York last season.
English

@DonnieCollinsTT just that they need to make a change from McMahon. he doesn’t do much either
English

@bruning_ron What did you see with Vivas that makes you think he was a major league hitter? Or Oswald Peraza? Or any number of guys they tried who didn't do much?
McMahon's career MLB OPS is higher than Vivas' AAA OPS. There's just no legit call for Vivas to have been given a shot there.

@MLB Half size hot dogs and 4 oz beers is not a challenge it’s a warmup.
12 ounce beers and regular size dogs make up a true 9-9-9.
This is a 4.5/4.5/9 challenge.
English

@DonnieCollinsTT Vivas (or someine else) needs to play instead of McMahon.
English

@bruning_ron I would take your argument a lot more seriously if you didn't come into this by saying Vivas should have been given a shot at it. He's a far inferior player to McMahon, all around.
Anyone is a negative on the offense compared to Judge.
English

@DonnieCollinsTT yes, absolutely, but it doesn’t come close to outweighing his negatives on offense. gotta hit - even if only a little.
English

@bruning_ron Would you not concede he's a positive on the defense? That matters a hell of a lot, too.
English

@DonnieCollinsTT that’s primarily because of Judge, Grisham, Fried, etc. McMahon is a negative on the offense.
English

@bruning_ron They won 64% of their games when he was in the lineup. That would be how they won with him.

@TierReport yes, his career year. helps to hit in a lineup with Judge having a typical monster year and Grisham having his career year too.
English

@bruning_ron You said better option than McMahon or Chisholm. I mean both of those guys major league stats are as good, or better than what Vivas has even done in the minors. And maybe we were watching a different Jazz. He had one of his best years. Best WAR, one of his best ops
English

@TierReport my point wasn’t so much about Vivas. it was mire about how McMahon sucks and Chisolm is overrated and had his brst year ever.
English

@bruning_ron Ok, maybe I went too far. But honest question. What makes you sold on Vivas. Even if you don’t like McMahon what makes you think a guy who hasn’t even been good as a hitter in the minors better? I can see maybe wanting to give Rosario more at bats, but what do you like with Vivas

Craig Kimbrel has decided to stay with the Mets after not making the Opening Day roster, per @JonHeyman.
As Carlos Mendoza mentioned yesterday, Kimbrel is expected to remain in Port St. Lucie.

English

@TierReport maybe pay attention to what you type first. it’s OK to disagree, but if you want to be the tough guy, keyboard warrior, and start with bashing people then expect it in return and be prepared to say it to the person’s face. See highlighted here for what YOU said first.

English

@bruning_ron Name calling always is a great way to prove your point. And especially when your point is McMahon is holding the Yankees back so I’d rather replace him with a guy whose offensive stats in the minor leagues are the same as what McMahon has done in the big leagues.
English

@DonnieCollinsTT tell me how, exactly, they won with him. I mean, what did he contribute offensively?
English

@bruning_ron That's kind of the point on Jazz.
I don't know what else to say on McMahon. You said they can't win w/ him. I showed you they've consistently won with him. You say, "They win in spite of him." That's not a real discussion of the facts, so I'll stop it at this point. Thanks.
English

@DonnieCollinsTT they had a decent record there in spite of him. Judge, Grisham, Fried, etc carried the team. Chisolm had his best year ever.
English

@bruning_ron McMahon is actually the easiest argument to make here, so I'll start with him. The Yanks were 38-21 w/ him in the regular season last year, and he hit .208 for them. That's still a 64% win rate. And he hit well in the playoffs. They can win with McMahon as a bottom order 3B...
