@LombardIsKing_ I get that, and agree. But, that was a narrative that could have been overcome if he was a strong all-around player. The problem is, when you are more of a one-dimensional power hitter any question on if you can do that at the big league level is going to raise red flags.

@TierReport The issue was his market didn’t drop cuz of his defense or anything, it was literally just because people through he couldn’t hit a fastball faster than 95+. Which I knew was bs and he’s clearly shown that wasn’t the case

Man imagine if the Yankees had judge, rice, and Murakami! I wonder who said they should have signed him

@mikecbrown21 @BrendanKutyNJ Volpe isn’t the one blocking him from playing SS, right now Caballero is. Lombard was working at third before he even got called up to AAA. They just feel third may be a position he can get in the lineup sooner

@BrendanKutyNJ Volpe should not hinder Lombard’s development. Let him play short and move Volpe over or better yet, down to A ball

George Lombard Jr. is going to bounce around in the infield at Triple A, Boone says. Volpe will play SS, but didn’t rule out the possibility of him getting work at other positions. Said that “conversations” could happen in coming days.

@LombardIsKing_ Don't get me wrong though, right now he'd be a nice upgrade at 3rd. But, I some of the red flags teams had that made his market not as strong as people expected are definitely showing up as well.

That’s definitely possible, but I think Murakami will have a lot of different parts of his game like base running/stealing, and possibly fielding if he focuses it more. Dunn was a big body guy and couldn’t move well, he was 6’6 and almost 300lbs while Murakami is 6’2 213lbs. Big diff

@LombardIsKing_ I see that. But, Murakami was always a big question mark on defense coming over. And, he stole some bases in Japan, but he's never been a great base runner. He stole like 75 bases in Japan and was caught 40 times. Time will tell. I just feel like he may wind up a Dunn like DH.

@LombardIsKing_ Yeah, I get that. But, I just think it's very possible he's Adam Dunn. Who, had great power, had an ops of .854 for his career, but was worth 18 WAR total over 14 seasons because he was really a one-dimensional power hitter who didn't bring any other element to the table.

@TierReport If Murakami has that low of an average he’s still the kind of player to have an OPS above .800 which is what teams are prolly gonna focus on more

@LombardIsKing_ This could set the Tigers back years. Clearly the Yankees weren't giving up Rice and Cam and Lombard for him. But, could the Tigers have convinced the Yankees to have given up say Cam and Jones for him? How different is the Tigers future then?
