Vad ska man säga? Åkesson påstår att man inte kan vara en troende muslim och svensk samtidigt. Han säger att om man värdesätter sin (muslimska) tro över sin svenskhet eller landets lagar så är man en islamist. Jag kan stolt säga att som troende muslim kommer min tro först i livet för mig – före min familj och alla andra identiteter. Men det betyder inte att jag struntar i Sverige eller dess lagar. Min tro lär mig att försvara mitt hem och ta hand om det, och att ta hand om mina medmänniskor och grannar oavsett deras bakgrund. Min tro lär mig också att respektera lagar och regler där man bor, och att hålla sina avtal – och medborgarskapet är ett avtal. Så att man värdesätter sin tro (som muslim) högst i livet borde inte vara ett hinder för att också kalla sig svensk. Om du frågar en praktiserande kristen i Sverige vad som är viktigast – deras tro eller deras svenska identitet – så tror jag att de skulle svara sin kristna tro. Frågar man en svensk jude eller någon annan religiös grupp samma sak skulle svaret troligen bli detsamma. Så varför är just den muslimska tron och praktiserande muslimer ett problem? Sverige är vårt hem, och de flesta av oss älskar vårt hem. Vi skulle försvara landet precis som man försvarar sitt hem.
