@bwfast Why would owners in the top tier vote for the potential for their franchise value to plummet, while other owners who bought in cheaply at the lower levels benefit?

@LukeGrant7 Why do people treat the Jets need for a WR as if they have a young QB with absolutely no weapons for him? They need a WR2, and it isn’t worth overpaying for it because they don’t have the young QB in place anyway (AND they have a bunch of picks in next year’s draft).

@cb050562 @SPFLWatch You have more of your population in prison than we do in the UK, and yeah, we’re mostly quite happy that people saying that our elected official should be killed are out in prison. Try tweeting that people should riot on the white house and kill Donald and see how that goes.

@rbpittsteel @TaraBull Why is it so hard for people to understand that a media reporter covering a 32 team sports league has to demonstrate objectivity towards all 32 teams, while a coach of one of those teams doesn’t have that obligation? Arguing this is bias against women is a brain dead reaction.

She's facing far more vitriol than Vrabel is. Female reporters deal with so much more bs than male ones. She made a poor decision even if nothing was going on between them. But I guess it is near impossible for two married people, one male, one female, to be just friends in the eyes of others.

@Laurie0801 Because US healthcare would get dramatically worse? The majority of Americans have private insurance through their job which pays higher premiums to doctors/hospitals that subsidize the people on govt healthcare now. Everybody on govt healthcare would be free but unavailable.

@Elliott_Eldrich @Simon_Ingari You are attaching your biases to what is basic human nature. Even in a romantic relationship when a person realizes they are totally dependent on another, they will fight to keep the status quo for their security then start changing things to never be that dependent again.

Employee: Here is my two weeks’ resignation notice. HR Manager: You didn’t tell me you were planning to leave. Employee: Yes, I wanted to wait until the right time. HR Manager: The right time? Employee: I’m joining a new company with a better offer. HR Manager: How much are they offering you? Employee: It’s 170,000—a solid jump from my current 100,000. HR Manager: We can give you a no-brainer offer—190,000. Employee: In that case, I’ll stay and accept your offer. HR Manager: Thank you. @GuillaumeVares @salingergregor There will be too much traffic even with all of the roads opened. To be close to NYC, they built this stadium in a place that is very congested even when events aren’t happening.

@NYRChip23 The real question is why Drury accepted Morrow back in the Miller trade from a CAR organization with a lot of options. We didn’t learn anything about Morrow since he has been here that wasn’t said when he was still in the CAR organization.

Lots of freaking out over these quotes but they’re fairly innocuous. In a world where Trocheck gets traded they’re going to need a 4C and I assume they’ll want that to be someone like Carrick who can play on the PK. (Boone Jenner?) As for D, Morrow does if he learns to play D.
Vince Z. Mercogliano@vzmercogliano

I asked Sullivan about offseason needs and he highlighted two areas: - Puck-moving D - Strengthen the bottom 6 with players who can take some of the tough assignments and special teams responsibilities off the plates of their top forwards #NYR

@olivierlaval27 People do NOT pay these kinds of prices for NFL games or concerts in the US. Those events have expensive tickets for the best seats plus cheaper options. The worst seats for the WC are still expensive.

Et Infantino ajoute qu'aux USA, on paie les mêmes prix pour un match de NFL ou un concert sans que personne ne se plaigne. Ce type incarne à l'état chimiquement pur les dérives du foot moderne.
Semafor@semafor

Are World Cup tickets too expensive? "The main, and so far the only, revenue-generating event for FIFA is the World Cup," Gianni Infantino tells @maxwelltani. "We generate money in one month — the 47 other months until the next World Cup, we spend that money."

@salingergregor It helps with traffic as tailgaters get to the stadium earlier than people just showing for the game. It is a very welcoming, social activity. Two tailgates of 50 people supporting different teams won’t start trouble even if they are right next to each other.

@FPLfrasier In most US sports video review actually works better, because the review staff are specific to that job (they aren’t referees). They can make judgements w/o thinking about the referee they are judging switching roles with them next week.

I feel very strongly about this topic. These VAR officials are just not trained to use video technology. Scrap VAR for the time being if the users are not good enough.
FPL Frasier@FPLfrasier

No consistency and professionalism. This is a sports filled with money and nobody is working to make VAR professionals and consistent. Let me explain 1. Consistency — The reasoning and explanation given for Amad and Maguire incidents completely different. For Amad, the reasoning was the foul was on upper body and there wasn’t enough pull for Amad to fall “like that”. For Evanilson, the argument was that Maguire didn’t attempt to play the ball so that was a foul. How do you expect consistency if the reasonings aren’t consistent. If the same rules were applied (challenging for the ball or upper body contact) then either both of them were penalties or both of them were non fouls. How are we into 5th/6th year of VAR and VAR officials just working on their vibes? There is not a checklist for them to follow. Watch other sports and you would understand what I mean. 2. Professionalism — When I hear VAR officials, it doesn’t sound like professionals on their job, rather it’s friends talking. At times they are shouting over one another. In this video, the linesman saying “mate”. In other sports, video officials will sound boring but they will act professionally. They will be calm and try to objectively assess the situation. They won’t make it feel like chaotic situation. Scrap VAR unless you can fix these issues. These officials are just not trained for these.

No one knows anything yet but if I was to put a wager on it today, I say he isn’t traded this summer My prediction would be that Drury brings him into the season and goes from there, if they stink again, he’ll be moved at next deadline Just my prediction! #NYR
Vince Z. Mercogliano@vzmercogliano

Trocheck knows being traded remains a real possibility. Does he have a preference about staying or going? “I don’t know what’s going to happen… I’ll talk to my family about it. Try to see where we’re heading as a team… You want to see the team heading in a direction where we’re going to be working to contend.” #NYR

@NYRLouie There will be a list of teams, that only has DET on it now, that will have pressure this summer to make a big move. CAR, MIN, or others could get themselves on that list falling short in the playoffs. It would be malpractice for Drury to not check the market again this summer.

@Real1_balogun For the sports where video review works well, it is usually done in a central location. The big difference, and why VAR sucks, is that other sports have separate video staff who are not connected to the on field referees. It is idiocy to have the referees judging each other.

Until a few minutes ago, I didn't know the Premier League VAR operated from a central location. I'd always thought they operate from every stadium. The Premier League’s VAR operates from Stockley Park, a business estate in west London. The VAR hub contains a classroom, a gym, canteen and recovery zone. For every game, there's a primary VAR, an assistant VAR and a replay operator and they all connect to the referee on the pitch. Infrastructure at its best.
