I know no-one wants to hear this BUT three points wouldn’t have sent us through unless we battered Haiti 5-0 and only lost 1-0 to each Morocco and Brazil. So four points would’ve been realistically needed. Was getting four points from a group that has two of the top seven sides in the World ever a likely proposition? I know there’s more to it than that but feels like it’s a fair caveat

We need to have a discussion about Asia. They got 8 spots at this World Cup. Australia and Japan currently the only two going through South Korea and Iran might still do so. Qatar, Iraq, Saudi and Uzbekistan have absolutely stunk out the joint. FIFA need to move to a Coefficient style system. Can’t be handing out spots to them like Confetti.

Steve Clarke came into a job and a country that was at its lowest point ever. Attendances at it’s lowest for years, players rejected callups and no tournament since 1998 He’s come in and changed it, performances at majors has what cost him but there’s been more highs than lows
