West baseball season ... 🦇⏳

The Reds have been creative during batting practice recently. They've used foam balls to work on hitting inside fastballs as well as sinkers/cutters with a ton of spin. Yesterday, hitters moved back and forth in front of and behind the batter's box. Terry Francona said, "Yesterday, they were trying to challenge them (on changing speeds). Batting practice has evolved over the years. It was just coaches and see how far you could hit it (in the past). I fall in a bit of everything. I think if you just do one thing, (it isn't good). If you balance it, and that's what we're trying to do, there's a reason." "We're trying to keep it fresh and also have a reason for doing it. Like (Valaika) says, we're never trying to throw something against a wall. There's always a reason."

At the level he's at today, Chase Burns could be having this type of game against any lineup in baseball. There's a combination of command and swing and miss today that's making this as good as Burns has looked in the big leagues. His reactions show how excited he is about the way that he's pitching.

New Dolphins starting QB Quinn Ewers barely has any NFL film. The Reds beat the Guardians, 5-4. The Reds play a good, crisp, well-rounded game against a good team and a good pitcher.

The Reds called up right-hander Michael Mariot, who’s stretched out to be a starter. His role has yet to be announced. Tony Santillan was optioned to Triple-A, and Henry Ramos has been DFAd.
