Modern men grew up alongside women. We went to the same schools, were raised by educated mothers, sisters, and aunts. We shared the same classrooms, the same environments, and the same opportunities. We entered the digital world together…joining platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at the same time. “No barriers” We built friendships, relationships, and experiences side by side. “Bodily autonomy” We knew women who lived freely, made their own choices, pursued careers, owned homes, and shaped their own lives. In our everyday reality, there was no clear system where we were actively oppressing anyone or taking rights away until social media came. Yet now, we are told to take responsibility for an alleged oppression we never participated in…things that happened generations before us. When we ask when this happened, we’re pointed to the past. But that raises a question: are modern men meant to answer for history they didn’t create? We are not reincarnations of the past, and we don’t carry the actions of previous generations. Accountability should be based on what a person does, not what others did long before they were born. Respect, care, loyalty, and protection should not be automatic or demanded based on history alone. In today’s world, they should be mutual and earned…given through actions, just as they are expected in return. The past should not be used as a tool to extract unearned privileges in the present. History deserves to be understood, but not weaponized. Moral responsibility belongs to those who acted, not to those who merely came after.

The number of Nigerian men in UK prisons convicted of rape and sexual assault since 2023 should make all of us pause and reflect. It points to deeper issues. Failures in justice, and protection for women back home. Many of these individuals will eventually be deported to Nigeria after serving their sentences. The real question is: what happens next? What safeguards are in place to protect women and girls when they return to our communities? This is not just about crime abroad, it’s about the systems we have, or lack, at home. It’s about prevention, justice, and ensuring that survivors are protected and heard. We cannot afford to ignore this. We have to do better. We have to wake up.

It often comes from constant correction and dissatisfaction. He tries to take initiative, and it’s not done the way you want. He buys something for the house, and it’s wrong. He helps out, and there’s still something to complain about. Over time, he realizes that no matter what he does, it will be criticized or adjusted. So eventually, he stops taking initiative and just waits for instructions to avoid conflict. There’s also the difference in how problems are handled. When you bring a problem, he naturally tries to fix it. That’s how many men are wired. But then you say you don’t want a solution, you just want him to listen and validate your feelings. So now he’s being told that his natural response is wrong. So what happens? He starts playing it safe. He waits for direction. He avoids making decisions on his own. Not because he’s incapable, but because it’s the easiest way to avoid constant complaints. Then there’s the idea of “happy wife, happy life.” In reality it man's “do what I want or there will be problem” That doesn’t create leadership or confidence, it creates compliance. Even a lot of women pushes LISTENING and VALIDATION as the main solution to everything. That has value, but it also tends to prioritize one way of handling problems while dismissing the other. This isn’t about attacking women. It’s just pointing out that some of the behaviors being criticized in men are actually shaped over time by the dynamics in the relationship. So let’s be logical here. How is it possible that false accusations can completely ruin a man’s life, even when they’re lies, while real accusations aren’t properly investigated? If what you’re saying were true, then women wouldn’t weaponize such allegations…because they wouldn’t have any real consequences or impact.
