I want to live in a society where people with different opinions can talk things through together with dignity and respect.
We need to build that society by taking the time to listen and engage with people and arguments with which you don't agree. I enjoyed an extended conversation with @toryboypierce and @beverleyturner about the ethics of reparations.
I'd love to know what you think of it. Here are the first few minutes:

In a culture obsessed with image it feels we are more interested in what Jesus looked like than what he said and did.

@Culture_Crit This is closer to the real Jesus of Nazareth, not the fake depiction with blond hair and blue eyes. He was a Semite not a Roman!

@DrJoeBoot @JustinWelby Why is remembering the victims of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade Marxist? & if it’s an International Day of Remembrance of Victims of Slavery then yes I guess u would remember all those victims you’ve mentioned. I feel you have an axe to grind. Get back to preaching the gospel.
English

So the usual Marxist Critical Theory - decolonising the world with revisionist history and false guilt . Are you remembering the European Slavic peoples (so named because they were such frequent victims of slavery)? Or calling for justice for all those millions enslaved and sold by Asian's in Asia, African's in Africa, and the Islamic lands across the Middle East - all dwarfing the transatlantic trade ended by Christians in the West? Are you remembering Christendom that struggled and battled to end slavery throughout much of the world? Your justice is injustice. Repent, and return to preaching the gospel of Christ and advancing his law of justice rather than baptising Karl Marx and calling it Christianity,.

Today marks the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
My visits to Zanzibar and Jamaica earlier this year deeply affected me, reinforcing the importance of this day and our commitment to justice.
I also express gratitude for the ongoing efforts of the Church Commissioners addressing economic, educational, and health disparities faced by the descendants of enslaved Africans worldwide.
Let us unite in solidarity with victims of slavery past and present.

Off into rural Sahara now boys & girls. Tarmac has finished and just clinging on to last bit of signal now. I knew this would be a particularly rough part of the mission but these sandstorms are different gravy. Body is absolutely wrecked. Constant state of pain. Last stretch. Will make it happen. See you on the other side🫡
