First, Edwards says the bill is only for those “at the very end of their lives.”
But the bill’s “6-month prognosis” criterion is very broad: 1 in 5 of those eligible will actually have at least 3 years to live.

What dismal news that the Assisted Suicide bill is coming back. They are hoping to use the Parliamentary override to force it through without any of the improvements and safeguards offered in the Lords last time including by the Bill’s advocates like Lord Falconer. We’re going to be offered the same bill that left the Commons (left with lots of ‘oh the Lords will clean up that glaring problem, don’t worry just pass it’) on a take-it-or-leave-it, unamendable basis. Even if you accept the case for assisted dying this Bill is terrible, far too expansive and full of holes to be filled in after it’s in statute… but the advocates know they’ll never have a such a ‘progressive’ Parliament for years, so it’s now or never. So they’re trying to push through a dangerous bill that they admitted needed significant improvement, because it’s their last chance. They must be stopped.

69 of the 532 Crown courtrooms across England and Wales are sitting empty today. That’s 13% of them.
David Lammy claims that jury trials are responsible for the Crown Court backlog of more than 80,000 cases, and that the only way to tackle it is to curb our right to them. Yet there is no credible evidence to support that claim.
He is pressing ahead with this attack on an ancient liberty despite warnings from judges, lawyers, opposition MPs, Labour MPs and victims of crime.
Open the courts. Protect our right to trial by jury.

Love it when they say “ well you have to remember, this was during the pandemic , we were all under lockdown” as if we all remember losing our minds and our moral compass and sense of proportion and protocol and everything else.
No. You, the political classes and the race baiters and grifters lost your collective minds. *We* all battled to stay sane under the relentless tide of bullshit from our elected representatives and a catastrophic wave of unaffordable measures that we were bullied into accepting on pain of legal and professional consequences. And we don’t need remaining. We have not forgotten.

Due to escalating disruptive protests, I have decided to cancel the remainder of these lectures. This is deeply lamentable, but the disruption has undermined the academic nature of this series. Students shouldn't face bullying or harassment when attending academic events.

Treasury Minister Lord Livermore said yesterday in Parliament he thought it an "inevitability" that Britain would rejoin the EU.
We always knew it was what Labour ministers thought. But to say it on the record in Parliament shows a new degree of confidence about the direction of travel.
So Labour won't stop now. One concession will lead to another because they believe they already know the end point.
You can't trust Labour on the EU.
