Germany quietly changed conscription laws and now any man between the age 17 and 45 is obligated to obtain a permit from the German military if he wants to leave the country longer than three months.

This is wild. Google Research demonstrates a ~20x more efficient implementation of Shor's algorithm that could break ECDSA keys within minutes with ~500K physical qubits. Google is now are more confident on a 2029 post-quantum transition. We are no longer looking at mid 2030s, we could have quantum computers of this scale by the end of the decade. They believe this result is so severe that they are not publishing the actual circuits. They instead published a ZKP proving that they know of the quantum circuit with these properties. This is very atypical, showing Google thinks this is serious shit. All blockchains need a transition plan ASAP. Post-quantum is no longer a drill.

Many are wondering "what Google saw" that caused them to revise their post-quantum cryptography transition deadline to 2029 last week. It was this: research.google/blog/safeguard…

This is an exciting development! I lost my beloved husband and soulmate to glioblastoma. He was diagnosed on his first day or retirement after 22 years of military service. He had a successful emergency brain surgery to remove the tumor at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center but then had complications due to care issues and underwent other emergency surgeries for brain swelling. He was in the hospital for four weeks. After discharge he was advised to undergo chemotherapy and radiation. This barbaric treatment was “standard of care” at the time and required before they’d allow him to try immunotherapy (Congress passed the Right to Try a year after he died.) I questioned the doctors saying the brain is the CPU of the body—nothing good could come from radiating the brain. The doctors said there would be no ill effects, and if they did occur it wouldn’t be for 20 years. He did the radiation and suffered from radiation necrosis within 6 months. He lost cognitive abilities and motor skills. He later got immunotherapy with a great oncologist in Santa Barbara (Dr Dan Greenwald) with Keytruda and Avastin and that was promising in stopping tumor growth, but I think the radiation caused damage that ultimately did him in. It is so tragic. I’m glad that people diagnosed with glioblastoma have better options now. I wish he could have tried this.

A single dose of a new cancer drug made a brain tumor almost disappear – in just five days. Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital reported “dramatic and rapid” tumor regression in the first patients treated with a next-generation form of CAR T-cell therapy for glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive brain cancers known. The therapy, called CARv3-TEAM-E, was developed to overcome a major hurdle in treating solid tumors: their ability to hide from the immune system. The personalized treatment reprograms a patient’s immune cells to attack the tumor, and in one extraordinary case, nearly eliminated the cancer within just five days. This novel therapy is designed to target multiple features of the tumor at once, a strategy that may help overcome the common challenge of treatment resistance in solid tumors like glioblastoma. Although the tumors eventually returned, the early outcomes were described as unprecedented. One patient saw a 60% reduction in tumor size that lasted for half a year—an impressive result in a cancer known for its aggressiveness. The trial’s success marks a major step forward for immunotherapy in brain cancer and raises new hopes for long-term control or even a cure. Researchers are now working to refine the treatment and extend its effects, with the ultimate goal of turning a once-terminal diagnosis into a survivable condition.

@eneldiluvio @BrianRoemmele Testing food is a whole body of technique, but for obvious cases I recommend a scintillator meter. There several “cheap” ones nowadays. I have tested the Radiacode 103. Hope this helps

Cuba is experiencing nationwide blackouts, and clinicians have requested N95s. I will donate a dollar for every RT this gets in the next hour. MAKE ME PAY. James is organizing a fundraiser. Venmo: James-Ray-24

If anyone wants to help I spent a few hours talking to medical students in Havana today who work at a hospital who said they need N95s or equivalents desperately. I’ve already worked with someone to secure 5,000 masks but 40,000 supplies their entire hospital staff for a year.

@ElizabethBangs @TthTy62286 @TTSQ_ @ChrisMurphyCT A Circasian proverb says “When an ox/cow enters the palace, it doesn’t become king… the palace becomes a barn.” Was popularized in 2022 by Turkish journalist Sedef Kabaş. The clown/circus version is a modern adaptation from 2022, created by British writer Elizabeth Bangs. @grok

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public. I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are. 1/ Here's what I can share:
