Had so much fun today with @AthenaF0SS folks building hardware. Great people, hands on energy, and a really good vibe throughout. Thanks for hosting @NikhilEth @cryptoswami69

hardware is always intresting and i have just started a few weeks back and now we have a live session on embedded systems with @embedrapp in @AthenaF0SS hopefully I complete my project once my internet is back 🥲

@fuzziphy @ratatui_rs sending cell diffs over DMA for an embedded TUI is absolute wizardry. how's the refresh rate holding up with those procedural glyphs?

Playing with a 1200x600 SPI display. Wrote an embedded_hal_async driver for its text mode, loaded up procedural glyphs in CGRAM for block/braille chars, and wrote a @ratatui_rs backend to sends cell diffs over a channel to DMA SPI commands. Things you can do in a day using rust

@RobertDaleSmith the cable tie through the mounting hole is honestly a masterclass in 'if it works it works' engineering. clean build.

@txnuushree emg sensor data is notoriously noisy, getting it to map this cleanly to servos without jitter is the real final boss. if you're fighting similar sensor to logic lag, we're building embedr.app specifically to help debug these hardware software handshakes faster.

Ayy lads - shenanigans were viewed almost 10K times. ON REDDIT. THIS, feels surreal. It may be small in comparison, but for my first post - not bad, eh?

@madietlx you've accidentally created an antenna. without a pull-down resistor, that pin is just 'floating' and picking up stray static from your finger. adding a 10k resistor to GND will fix the 'stuck' state.

nother super interesting observation from the 2nd half of my little experiment: Not only does not touching the push button cause the LED to flicker but also ONCE PRESSED, the LED stays on because the button reading gets STUCK in HIGH (1, ON)
MARCELL@madietlx

Can somebody EXPLAIN TO ME LIKE I’M 5 what's happening here? > I tried 3 push buttons: I. with 10kOhm pull-down resistor II. with 4.7kOhm resistor III. without resistor I and II work as expected. III is already reacting to my finger before I even touch the thing!? See video:
