This is…Luke who works at @waterstones Notting Hill and kindly adopted Today Is A Me Day for the little ones section and put it in their window. I have found so much joy chatting to booksellers, some of whom, like Luke, are aspiring writers themselves. Our conversation about the craft of writing, the peer network, and our mutual longing for a respected mentor made me realize how precarious it is getting into the publishing world. It took me a looooooong time. I nearly gave up. In fact I was in the process of applying to graduate school to become a child psychologist when I sold the manuscript of this book. So whoever is nursing a story in them, get it on paper no matter what, and then talk to as many people as possible to help you on your journey. You can do it!
