@jeff_gluck @NASCARInsights From Sept. 6, 1971, to Oct. 8, 1972, Bobby Allison led at least one lap in 39 consecutive NASCAR Cup races. In the 1972 season, Bobby led every Cup race except the final race of the season at Texas World Speedway.

Oh, so close. Sterling Marlin finished second at @DAYTONA in July 1992. It was the seventh runner-up finish of his career, as he still chased that elusive first victory.

@nascarman_rr @DaleJr Working on SpeedWeek during those days was unbelievably great. Every week, a superstar walked on that set, and so many folks who worked on that show made a lasting impression on motorsports.

After Al Unser Jr. won the 1992 Indy 500, he did a call-in show on ESPN. Who was the first person to call in? "Earnhardt"

Happy 4th to everyone. Especially old-time NASCAR fans. My hat is off to someone at the NASCAR Channel who made the decision to air Firecracker 400s back-to-back today. Brilliant decision. Has Ken Martin's name all over it. Today I've already watched 1965, '67, '68, and now '72.

@racermacRTP1 @ckyriazis2006 @ChasKrall ABC was in Atlanta for the cup race, but there was no Saturday coverage planned. A few cameras covered the Busch race for highlights for use on ESPN SpeedWeek. There was an interview shot with Jeff that was also used on SpeedWeek.

Maybe somewhere there is a tape floating around with the 1999 race at Nashville Fairgrounds... (Would be a miracle...the TV crew departed after a long rain delay but a guy can hope!) Serious kudos to everyone for finding that Nazareth race! WOW!!!
NASCAR Classics@NASCARClassics

We heard the noise. We did some digging. Four previously “lost” @NASCAR_Trucks races have been uploaded to the NASCAR Classics Library. 1996 Nazareth Speedway 1997 @MartinsvilleSwy 1998 @phoenixraceway 1999 @MartinsvilleSwy 🔗: NASCAR.com/Classics

@ckyriazis2006 @ChasKrall We searched our archives and only found field or ENG tapes of the Nashville Truck race. Sorry to mislead. It shows up in our listings and did show as broadcast, but upon further review was not found.

@nascarman_rr @TommyKendall11 Marshall Teague was such an important figure in NASCARs early history. I interviewed Frank Mundy in 1997 and he told me the story about the rental car. He was another great character.

April 8, 1951: NASCAR raced in California for the first time Among the drivers was Frank Mundy, who rented a car from a local car rental firm, finished 11th, and returned the car at night so no one would notice the worn tires It cost $21 to rent, and he won $25, a $4 profit
