Moments like this tells you about leadership. The Tories and Reform would have rushed us into the conflict in the Middle East without thinking through the consequences it would have for British people. My Labour government will always make decisions in the national interest.

@LizWebsterSBF Common sense answer. Make sure we have O&G in abundance along with nuclear and renewable energy. Even reopening some coal mines that have at least 30 - 50 yrs possible production. There are still lots of options available

Stop pouring good money after bad. The deal was well intentioned, but has predictably failed. Despite goodwill from local law enforcement in Northern France, Paris has frustrated almost every effort to get a grip - and probably always will. As I saw when I spent nights on the beaches last year, the current French response is a joke. It’s happening in plain sight. Renewing this deal would be a monstrous waste of money. Money that should be spent on bringing down your bills. The lesson is you don’t rely on the kindness of other countries to secure your own borders. Britain needs a sovereign deterrent. Detain and deport every illegal migrant. No asylum for any illegal entrant. Rule no option out. Do whatever is required. I joined Reform because it’s clear only Nigel Farage, Zia Yusuf and Reform have the backbone to deliver that.

Appalling. The Foreign Secretary literally admits we are under attack and calls the Iranian terrorist regime’s targeting of British bases as ‘reckless’.
