We have one health sector, not a private and a public one. Everyone falls sick. Where we seek care is just a detail. Private not for profit is a bogus term. Either you're making losses or surplus. Being a going concern is for all @MakSPH #ianclarke today

Holding a PhD does not give you the right to being knowledgeable. It gives you the chance to learn, unlearn and relearn. It is a chance, not a privilege!

MakSPH and Partners Launch Research Project on Africa’s Health Workforce Employment Paradox Yesterday, @Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), together with partners from @LSHTM, @UnzaOfficial, and @unn_tweets, launched the research project “Not enough and too many: Professional personhood among Africa’s paradoxically surplus health workers.” The five-year study, supported by the @wellcometrust, focuses on a documented challenge across several African health systems where trained health professionals remain unemployed or underemployed even as countries continue to experience shortages of frontline health workers.

Dr. Gladys West, the Black mathematician whose brilliance made GPS possible, has passed at 95. Born on a Dinwiddie County farm during the Great Depression, she overcame segregation to become a scientist and map the world—literally. May we never forget her legacy or the path she paved for generations of mathematicians.

When the internet is switched off, it is not cables that go silent, it is lives. A state that prides itself on sovereignty must first understand responsibility. Power is not the ability to interrupt life at will; power is the discipline to govern without suffocating the very people who give it meaning. What do we say to the cancer patient whose consultation is not political, not partisan, but biological? Disease does not pause for elections. Tumours do not respect curfews. Pain does not log off. What do we say to the young entrepreneur whose business exists not in buildings, but in bandwidth? Who pays rent not with slogans, but with clicks, calls, and contracts? When you silence the internet, you do not silence dissent alone, you strangle livelihood. We must be honest: today’s economy is digital by design. To shut down the internet is to shut down hospitals, classrooms, markets, and hope, all at once. 🔐Security that is achieved by paralysing citizens is not security. 🔐An order that is maintained by collective punishment is not an order. 🔐Authority that fears communication has already confessed weakness. A wise state governs with restraint, not reflex. A confident nation protects both stability and continuity of life. And leadership worthy of its name understands that in the modern world, connectivity is no longer a luxury, it is infrastructure. History will ask: Did we govern with foresight, or did we rule with fear? And history, unlike the internet, never goes offline. #KyamageroDaily #UgandaDecides2026

The PI everyone respects didn't build their reputation on papers alone. They built it on: • Answering panic emails at midnight • Absorbing budget cuts without cutting people • Celebrating team wins louder than their own • Taking responsibility when projects fail • Protecting their students from institutional politics Your papers get you promoted. Your character keeps people loyal.

ReAct - Action on Antibiotic Resistance
#WAAW #AntibioticResistance #AMR 🤒 Bacterial infections have plagued humans throughout history. 💊 In the past 80 years antibiotics have changed the world by saving and improving countless lives, establishing them as the cornerstones of all modern health systems. 🏥 From basic healthcare to advanced technology supported medicine, antibiotics have become indispensable. ❤️‍🩹 However, antibiotic resistance erodes antibiotic efficiency and the cornerstones have started to crumble. Act Now. Protect Our Present. Secure Our Future. @WHO @react_latina @ReActAfrica_RAN
