🚨Storm Éowyn - Aviation update💨 As storm Éowyn rapidly approaches Ireland, Teams around all Irish Airports are preparing for a rough day. —— Forecast Information —— 💨 Éowyn is expected to bring strong wind with gusts of up to 127kmh at Dublin Airport in the morning, with a mean speed of up to 68kmh! 🔴 A Status RED wind warning is in effect for the whole of Ireland. In Dublin, The warning is in effect from 06:00 to 11:00 🟠 A Status ORANGE Wind warning is also in effect from Midnight tonight until 16:00 on Friday. —— Flight & Airport Info —— As of now (18:00) 49 Departures have been cancelled and 43 Arrivals have been cancelled by multiple airlines at Dublin Airport. That number is expected to increase. ☘️ Aer Lingus have cancelled all flights from Dublin, Cork or Shannon that takeoff before 09:45, except for EI776 which has been rescheduled for the same day. The first EI flight from Dublin will be EI524. ☘️ Aer Lingus’s later inbound Trans-Atlantic flights will be delayed 3-4 hours so they won’t require cancellation, the earlier inbound Trans-Atlantic flight will be cancelled overnight until Saturday. 🔹As of now, Ryanair have not cancelled any flights, that is expected to change however Check with your airline on the status of your flight 🔺 If winds are bad enough at Dublin Airport, Aircraft will need to be turned on stand to face the wind, operations teams are preparing for that if needs be. Aircraft at Belfast Aldergrove have already been turned. 🔺 Knock Airport is CLOSED from 04:00 until 13:00 due to forecast wind. No other Airports have announced closures. — miscellaneous information — 🛬 Because of the wind direction and strength, Runway 28L/R appears to be the most suitable runways from 04:00.
