Why do we keep acting like Nolan wasn’t a great husband and father for 20 whole years before he killed the guardians. Like Debbie was incredibly happy with him as her partner before the nonsense started

I don't think they'll make Paul a bad guy but don't expect him to stick around. He's a disposable love interest just like Amber.
In these types of storylines, there is always that one temporary love interest who's “in the way” of another inevitable relationship.
