@wolikhalil Thanks! (This looks like a wedding videographer, and I was thinking more of someone who can do interviews, etc.)

Can Arsenal win the league without a prolific scorer? Their top scorer is on track for 12 league goals which would be the lowest for a title winner. I dug into 34 years of Premier League data to see how often teams win the league without a prolific scorer. I've been compiling the graphic design from pure water satchets. The first 9 are a mix of satchets from Victoria Island/Lekki and Surulere. Follow instagram.com/yougetpurewater for weekly updates!

Skarsgård and Reinsve were GREAT, but I can't stop thinking about Inga Lilleaas. Incredible (yet subtle) presence in every scene. Also really liked the narrator element, which in many ways reminded me of a certain era of films (Y Tu Mama Tambien, HxH, etc).

Just saw Sentimental Value courtesy of my film club. Damn. In so many ways, and with far fewer words, it reminds me so much of Murakami's "Abandoning a Cat." (What is it about Fathers?) The last time I saw something this moving/subtle was with The Lives of Others.

Wow. I don't ask for much. At home or at work. I just want higher quality problems. I'm a great problem solver. I don't want to waste away solving small problems. hassytee.substack.com/p/a-few-though…

One of my favorite podcasts ever is a 2022 conversation between @add_hawk and @ezraklein. I'm thrilled to continue the conversation in the interviewer seat today. @DialecticPod Ep. 36: C Thi. Nguyen - Measurement, Meaning, and Play C. Thi Nguyen (@add_hawk) is a professor of philosophy focused on games, values, data, and metrics. I visited him to discuss his new book, The Score: How to Stop Playing Someone Else's Game. Thi is focused on a dilemma with scoring systems: 1) in games, they're are great: they allow game designers to sculpt the player's agency. By shaping goals, abilities, and obstacles, action becomes easy, even harmonious. The player can try on different roles, explore different values, and move "lightly between worlds" 2) in the real world, they flatten us: We've quantified our lives, and easily countable metrics produce what Thi calls "value capture." By obsessively measuring what matters, we only value what we can easily measure. We went deep on the personal and societal implications of this: - What are different types of agency? What is the shape of good values? What is the difference between recognition and perception? - How can we be more playful, in and out of games? How can we find more beauty in process, not outcomes? - How can we trust each other, scale progress, keep bad actors in check--all while not extracting nuance out of complex fields by relying too much on legible data? - Are objectivity and truth the same thing? Is technology really value-neutral? Available on all platforms below and here on X. Timestamps: 0:00 - Opening Highlights 1:39 - Introduction to C. You might reasonably ask why I knew that and the answer is I Googled it but it was also in the colorful Welcome To Doing Taxes As A Sole Proprietor pamphlet the city tax office gave me when I stopped in to tell them that I would be doing that. I read the pamphlet, of course.

Interpreting jokes in real time is murderously difficult. Here’s a classic Japan story and then one from me:
