The mess in Iran is largely due to the inherently bigoted way in which Trump, Hegseth et al view Persians and Muslims. To them, Persians = Arabs and Arabs are "inferior," and Muslims are 7th century "cave dwellers." Their racist hubris led to overreach and here we are.
