Back on Project Hail Mary… talking with my wife today about it… that movie is going to be as culturally big as you can get in today’s fragmented media landscape. That movie appeals to pretty much everybody. Families can enjoy it together. Friends will repeat phrases from it.

Even down to the point where I’d like to see an Eva Stratt single of Sign of the Times (Best scene IMO) with spoken words from the movie taking us right back to the 90’s! (Jerry Maguire anyone?). Amazon making the movie will also guarantee that the film merch will be EVERYWHERE.

Still makes me double take, the Bibby contract. They really had to pay him more than 2x market value to take the job?
They may carve out a nice spot in the Big West. And I know they had injuries, specifically Cherry.
But 6-12 in league was not a great return Year 1.

Ultimately what I’m saying is that Hollywood can still win on the experience. The plot of Avatar was predictable, but the 3D IMax experience was out of this world incredible and immersive. For PHM some of the visuals are what I bet Interstellar would’ve been in IMax.

Thinking about it this morning… the last two movies I’ve seen in the theater were Project Hail Mary and Avatar. Both for reasons that I felt like I wanted the experience of seeing them in IMax and in the case of Avatar IMax and 3D. Both amazing experiences in their own right.
