The Court said there was no subject matter jurisdiction for the trial court to enter that order ,or any order for that matter, because there was never an allegation in the case that the entire public school system was violating the rights of all the students in the state.

As of now, will NC lawmakers e subject to a judicial order demanding the reallocation of state funds into public education under the state constitutional mandate that every child receive a sound and basic education (my terms)? No one is going to compete with @JudgeBobOrr on analysis of this...but there must be a "kitchen table interpretation" that can used for us "civilians."

@SonOfODell @kellymccullen Too much for a Tweet but the decision does NOT address court authority to order the GA to do anything. It's based on a lack of subject matter jurisdiction and the majority's conclusion that there was never a proper challenge to the state wide public education system.

In all due respect to the panelists on State Lines from PBS NC @kellymccullen, none of whom are attorneys, the discussion about the NC Supreme Court decision in Leandro, was simply out of left and right field and barely in the ballpark. No one really understood the decision.

I don't agree and I bleed Carolina Blue. I just think the Duke model of multiple one and dones is not a formula for winning national championships. It's possible but you're still advancing with a crew of freshmen, albeit very talented, who are subject to making bad decisions.

Getting a budget done in the short session allows for Republicans to take back momentum, and would serve as a positive capstone for Senator Berger's tenure.
The political will and impetus appears to exist to get it done.

The Medicaid expansion captured in working people without coverage to too high of a salary & Republicans know that is a key voting bloc for them

@kellymccullen @sampage4nc @dawnbvaughan @newsobserver @MyPBSNC The new dynamic is that new forecasts show that the House does not need to change the law by raising triggers so that the tax rate won’t be lowered to 3.49%, and then 2.99%. So the question becomes do we want to keep taxes at the 3.99% rate, or keep the economic juggernaut going?
