@RaidOwlTweets @Apple Even worse, staying connected. Try saving some to the quick link section or whatever it's called. It's utter dogshit. It wouldn't be so bad if it always disconnected but it's just random. Can't even find any decent logs.

@UK_Daniel_Card Shelly. shelly.com/products/shell…. Can't believe no one mentioned them. There ecosystem is very good, well supported and you have a lot of control regardless of you use cloud enabled or local only. The rest are just toys....

@AutoPap Agreed. Also it's worth pointing out most public chargers are fraught with problems. At least 50% off times we have come to use them they are either faulty or stop working after 5 minutes. The UI is shit on all of them, some work with apps some just don't respond. Shit show TBF.

You can't own an EV without a home charger. FULL STOP. Public charging is a rip off which negates the point of having one. Dealers need to be more transparent about this before they take your money.

@HfdsCouncil How about you get out and survey the roads. Or put cameras on all of the bin wagons. Do something. The roads especially out of town are awful and frankly dangerous. The amount of pot holes and I mean large, deep ones on the A4137 between the a49 and Whitchurch is abysmal. Fix it

We’re taking proactive action to keep Herefordshire’s roads safe and reliable. Stonebow Road, a key route to Hereford Hospital and blue-light services, has deteriorated rapidly due to exceptional weather conditions, so we’ve brought forward full resurfacing works rather than carrying out short-term patch repairs. Overnight works will take place from 8pm to 5am on the nights of 23–26 February (weather dependent). Hospital and A&E access will be maintained via Kyrle Street, with diversion signage in place. Pedestrian access will remain open throughout. We’ll share updates if anything changes 🔽 orlo.uk/ditMj

Ex-Microsoft engineer says this is what Windows' Task Manager would "probably" look like today — but it's a "good thing" he stuck to his OS design lane Microsoft veteran Dave W. Plummer is known across the Windows ecosystem for his contributions to the OS, and the engineer-turned-YouTuber clearly still has creative juices flowing. Task Manager has evolved over the years, but he shared a concept showing how it might look today (if he were still designing it) 👇

@zacbowden Let's hope they put some effort into the bloody file explorer as well. And I don't mean skining a pig by adding stuff on top. Does not even obey system fonts and scaling. Or just buy up Files App....

SCOOP: Microsoft is planning to bring back the ability to move and resize the Taskbar on Windows 11 this year, I'm told! As part of Microsoft's big plan to fix pain points across Windows, engineering teams are working to address top-level feedback such as the ability to move the Taskbar. I'm told this is considered a high priority for the Windows team, and the company is hoping to ship it over the summer, assuming plans don't change. The ability to move and resize the Taskbar has been a feature that has been requested by users since Windows 11 first debuted. It was a capability that existed in previous versions of Windows, but was removed when Microsoft rebuilt the Taskbar from scratch for Windows 11. Five years later, and it's finally being added back. Microsoft is hoping that addressing popular feedback requests such as this will help improve sentiment around Windows 11.

All Microsoft Store capabilities are now available directly from the command line! Originally built as an internal tool for large-scale testing and data validation, it proved too powerful and practical to remain internal, so we are now making it available to everyone! From your terminal, simply type 'store' to: 🔍 Search for apps or games 🧭 Browse categories 🏆 Explore top charts 🧵 View apps by publisher 🛠️ Install, update, and manage apps and all other features provided by the Microsoft Store app.

In 2004 the Sun Fire E25k was the apex predator of computing. This was the largest single-image Unix machine that money could buy ($2M fully loaded). This bad boy had: • 36 UltraSPARC IV processors (72 cores) • 576 GB RAM • 18 fully hot swappable CPU/memory boards • gigabit ethernet and fibre channel HBAs • Redundant power supplies, cooling zones, draw 15kW of power I deployed software to these things. Uptime was measured in years. This was THE ONE. Man I miss Sun.

Ayup. Why should Powershell on Windows by default be allowed to accept a short & simple command string to reach out to some arbitrary place on the Internet and run executable code from there in memory? It shouldn't. But, like Nathan, I don't think we are going to see a change.
Nathan McNulty@NathanMcNulty

I can't believe the years of posts we've had about preventing users from running PowerShell and/or blocking PowerShell outbound connections to the Internet I've lost all hope that PowerShell gets its own "Block macros downloaded from the Internet" moment x.com/i/status/17623…

When did code signing certificates get so expensive?? I got them free from @Digicert for a few years but they no longer offer this to @Microsoft MVPs. Going back 5 years I'm sure they were much less costly☹️
