State spending per capita was about $5436.29/person. Today, the state budget is $321.1 billion. That's a massive 50% increase in state spending despite the fact that California has actually LOST population since 2019. State spending per capita is now about $8,129.11/person. So Newsom wants to take credit for an economic growth record on par with Japan after their economy imploded in the 90s, all while he's jacked up state spending by 50% in less than 10 years?
