Wait until she learns who it was that actually kicked out the British from Mandatory Palestine .... If this were 1947, I'm sure she'd be flying a Union Jack Anything to prevent the Jews from having a state. Right?

@RachelMoiselle Cigarettes and tobacco products are not illegal items. It should be legal for an adult to make the choice as to whether they want to use those products. All this law does is give ammunition to those that think the UK is moving toward being a police state.

I know the UK has bigger problems, but just putting it out there that I think (as a non-smoker) that the new smoking ban is absolutely insane.

@RachelMoiselle @iamBrianBJ The difference with smoking and junk food/alcohol is there is no safe level and there's no way to balance out the badness. Cigarettes used in accordance with manufacturer's instruction will kill you.

@iamBrianBJ I think it’s nanny state behaviour. People should be allowed to smoke if they want to smoke. What next? A ban on alcohol? A ban on junk food?

Wonder is there a single journalist or broadcaster in Ireland who will ask one of the latest flotilla participants to detail * who funds the organisation that resources the flotilla? * the ownership of the flotilla boats? * the totality of & type of aid on the flotilla? * to explain who paid for the aid & its origin? *why they are not willing to deliver the aid through Ashdod Port or a humanitarian organisation already aiding Gaza? * why if concerned about Gaza they do not advocate support for the UNSC approved peace plan & criticise Hamas obstruction of its implementation & refusal to disarm? Just asking.

@liam7988 @KeithMillsD7 Micromanagement, office chatter distracting , because of office leases - 3 nonsense excuses peddled about by people. Employers found it less productive, people were taking the piss, especially those with pets or kids.

“Controversial links”? What’s controversial ? How many Irish universities have links to China, Quatar..? But Connolly has nothing to say about that. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. Only country in the Middle East to have a Pride March. In whose name is she hitting out????

@liam7988 @KeithMillsD7 Theres lots of evidence from employers themselves, thats why they’re bringing people back. Any evidence of increased productivity is where employees are surveyed and ofcourse they feel more productive getting paid to walk the dog or cooking lunch with a teams call open.

@KeithMillsD7 There is no evidence of it leading to lower productivity. I would seriously question how productive they expect people to be after a 3 hour drive.

The difference between @roisinmurphy and other supposedly outspoken Irish singers is that Roisin speaks on issues with risk attached. The likes of Moore and May simply spout safe, nodding-dog platitudes they know everyone will agree with. Conformity masquerading as conscience.
Mandy Gall@TheMandyGall

Where's Imelda Maye, Christy Moore and the rest to come to defend a fellow artist...oh yeah they're too busy calling the Irish 'racist'

@liam7988 @Independent_ie But it became a feature of their dwindling campaign which they did not honour. This, Varadka's statement and handling of the peaceful protest will come back to haunt them come the next election.

Sinn Féin's engagement with Arab Barghouti reflects their long-standing ideological alignment. Barghouti’s father, Marwan Barghouti, is serving multiple life sentences for his role in the murderous attacks of civilians and membership in a terrorist organisation. This raises questions about what priorities might shape a united Ireland under Sinn Féin’s influence. For those who reject comparisons between the Palestinian conflict and the Irish Troubles, such associations are particularly contentious. Framing violence as “resistance,” rather than emphasising negotiation and political compromise, challenges claims of inclusivity and will most certainly risk deepening divisions rather than resolving them.

@liam7988 @Independent_ie Yes they were struggling with getting votes and came out with this last minute promise. When they scrapped in with an amalgamation of other similar political parties they renegade on their promise.
