@FrackDeals @KornArt3 @LazerPotaters Oooh the 06 hate bandwagon was brutal back then. Who could forget the infamous Sonic Gens IGN review? Even when Sonic Gens tried to bridge modern and classic styles, it sure didn't stop "critics" from shoving down everyone's throats every time they could.

THIS. The rift between Classic and Modern fans was brutal and lots of "critics" wanted Only Classic and Nothing Else and pushed that narrative for years Sonic Gens did some good work trying to unite both sides. Also the hate for 06 killed momentum for a lot of things. People didn't want to touch anything associated with that game (including playable friends) for years.

@LazerPotaters I think it was, once again, a topic heavily criticized from 06 and onwards. We all know the story by now but, from what I saw back in the day, it was NOT pleasant changing gameplay styles in that game. Ironic considering that wasn't the case as much for the Advance trilogy afaik.

Kinda surprised there were no new playable character in the main sonic games starting from Colors until Forces

Yes, the whole "Daughter of Evil" was a smearing campaing in this manga, but Rilliane/Rin took it as she was completely resigned to her fate as the duke's puppet. It didn't help that in this version a clairvoyant cursed the kingdom 'cuz the king was an a-hole to him either...

Correction: The one that forced her is a duke, and the "vacant position" is that of the prime minister's

How much am I talking about? This a page from chapter 16 (the last one published afaik), and the prime minister told her she had to take the place of another minister. She obliged. TWO GUESSES WHERE SAID MINISTER IS! Srsly, the Daughter of Evil title was propaganda in this one.
