been using a new framework last few months that has made me the most disciplined ive ever been in my life: treating life like a video game personally, there are ~5-10 things that dictate how well my day goes. i assign “points” to each of these things, for a total of 10 points each day. i change weights based on whatever habit is in a slump — some weeks i am more easily motivated to workout, others i sleep late because i bing watch/read, etc. here’s what my current point system looks like: - sleep on time +1 - wakeup on time +1 - journal +1 - meditate +1 - stretch +1 - 10k steps +1 - diet +2 (+1 for protein, +1 for caloric intake) - workout +2 (training for hyrox so every day counts) while this seems manic, it actually brings a lot of structure to my life. decision fatigue is real, and ur brain is wired to make excuses that “make sense” plus, ive always been obsessed with competition and with “leveling up.” this helps me easily quantify that and compete against myself each week. i either do or i dont. my favorite part is tallying points up week, and keeping track like a new high score to beat. i reassess where my holes are, and how i can do better. life is more fun as a video game.
