This is not a madrasa — from tomorrow, no one will be allowed to enter the college wearing a burqa.’
Such threatening remarks by individuals allegedly backed by BJP-linked hooligan elements expose the dangerous rise of aggressive majoritarian politics after assuming power. When women from minority communities are targeted and their religious identity is openly attacked in educational spaces, it raises serious concerns about their safety, dignity, and constitutional rights in Bengal.
Is this the kind of ‘change’ people were promised?

After winning the election, Suvendu Adhikari stated in his first speech that people from all religions in Kolkata voted for him except the Muslim community.
I genuinely do not understand how he could be so certain about that. Does the Election Commission of India have any system that identifies which religious community voted for a particular candidate? If not, then on what basis was such a statement made?
Comments like these are deeply alarming because they openly divide citizens along religious lines and risk creating further communal tension. Political leaders should work to unite people, not single out an entire community after an election.
I believe such rhetoric is dangerous for the social harmony and democratic fabric of India. I sincerely urge India’s civil society, intellectuals, and the government to take serious notice of statements that may encourage hatred, polarization, or communal unrest.

India’s post-election violence in West Bengal continues to raise serious concerns. Reports and viral videos showing attacks on minority Muslims, destruction of mosques, intimidation, and businesses being burned have left many people disturbed and heartbroken. In Manipur too, people continue to live in fear and uncertainty.
One viral video shows musical instruments being played right beside worshippers inside a mosque during prayer. Imagine the level of disrespect and humiliation. Yet India continues to loudly present itself as a secular state. So where is that secularism now? Why are so many silent?
In Bangladesh, whenever even a small incident affects minorities, many people immediately raise their voices and speak out. And rightly so. No innocent person should ever be attacked, displaced, or targeted for their religion, whether Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, or anyone else. We protest, we write, we speak up. After post-election arson attacks in Bangladesh, video evidence led the Yunus government to arrest more than 30 people. I personally stand against every form of injustice.
But when Muslims are being targeted across the border, where are the voices of those who claim to believe in secularism and human rights? How many so-called secular Hindus are publicly speaking against these attacks? Many do not even have the courage to make a simple social media post.
I do not hate people because of their religion. I oppose those who stay silent in the face of injustice while using secularism as a label only when it suits them.

Reports from Azad Hind College suggest that students are facing intimidation and fear allegedly at the hands of BJP-backed miscreants, with Muslim women students being particularly targeted and harassed.
At a time when assurances of peace and normalcy are being publicly made, such incidents raise serious questions. It would be important to hear the response of @SamikBJP on these disturbing developments.
