@RightToLifeUK to trivialise the sacred life of a human being, the most innocent, most vulnerable unborn... as something to be "got rid of" during a lunchbreak... it's very sad.

@UcheMaryOkoli of course. It was never meant to stop. It changed so that if you do eat meat on Fridays then you are meant to make a sacrifice of something else. Personally I don't eat meat on friday cos it's easier than thinking what else to give up. It's no sacrifice nowadays tho, but still

Throwback to lenten Friday when we could not eat meat 😆. To be honest, I miss Lent really badly. But are there Catholics who still observe the tradition of not eating meat on Fridays?

@Jeremyakee yeah, much better to focus on the positive, the light. also, we've no idea who is behind the posts and what their reasons are. Mostly I believe they are for engagement, for clicks, for attention, for money. Better to stay out of the negative stuff that tries to drag people in.

I'm just a new Catholic so my opinion is not worth much, but it seems to me that a better use of our energy than bickering about the Pope and protestants would be to pray and go to confession.

@thisisninosway with humility and understanding that you (and the rest of us) are flawed, more flawed than you (and us) realise. why do we hold such high standards of ourselves as if we should know better than anyone else who sins? keep going, and try understand there are lessons in everything

@JoeAPs23 @dianahenry perhaps it just gets more media attention when it's to do with the USA. I for one certainly don't know everything the Pope has said since he became Pope. We only hear the small amount that gets relayed to us through media.

@dianahenry He’s been criticized for not questioning other acts of violence and seemingly only highlighting the actions of the USA. But wouldn’t a request for peace specifically for one forum infer that it applies to all acts of violence whether in Russia or Africa or anywhere else?

The lack of intelligence on display in the Catholic world or at least on social media just demeans the Church. It's so sad. Is the war unjust? Y or N? Pope Leo did his reputation harm. Nobody objects to a pope calling for peace. it's de rigeur. The three leftist cardinals on prime time 60 Minutes nationwide tv in the US disgraced Catholicism.

Trump has United the entire political system left and right around @GiorgiaMeloni who defended the Pope and said no to war.

Genuine question for my Catholic brothers and sisters: When did the Rosary stop feeling like a duty and start feeling like a conversation? For me it was the day I stopped counting beads and started actually talking to her. What was your moment? 👇

@Jimboken11 and perhaps you're too intelligent for your own good. If you use your intelligence to insult people, to attempt to make yourself feel superior to others, to win a soon forgotten spat on X ... then what do you gain? Nothing permanent I can tell you. 1 Corinthians 13.

Divine Intimacy ... woman at the well
@SkyVirginSon Recently, actually. I watched a video about Padre Pio which explains his beliefs about the Rosary prayers. Immediately my faith deepened and belief in the full efficacy of the prayers. Thus my own prayer became truly a conversation about real life concerns.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines scandal as “an attitude or behavior which leads another to do evil. The person who gives scandal becomes his neighbor’s tempter. He damages virtue and integrity; he may even draw his brother into spiritual death.” Our Lord militates against scandal, and even ties a curse to those who promote it: “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea” (Matt 18:6). The Catechism explains that scandal is greater according to the authority of the one scandalising.

@DavidJHarrisJr of course this is true. People are people, and any person can soften their heart & mind. if you have an attitude of condemnation of any person because they are a particular religion, please remind yourself, you are not God. Be kind to eachother and Love thy neighbour.

The Pope is a dope here. Sorry, Catholics—you don’t own the Bible, and it’s rarely read at Mass. In Buffalo, your flock is still paying for the sins of the priests. Churches are closing, and individuals are leaving for completely or joining other faiths. Millions of unborn children are slaughtered each year, yet the Pope rails against Trump, who has done more to protect life than any other American president.

BREAKING: Speaking to reporters aboard the papal plane to Algeria on Monday, Pope Leo XIV said: “I think that the people who read will be able to draw their own conclusions: I am not a politician, I have no intention of entering into a debate with him. Rather, let us always seek peace and put an end to wars. I am not afraid of the Trump administration. I speak about the Gospel, I am not a politician. I do not think the message of the Gospel should be abused in the way some people are doing. I will continue to speak out loudly against war, to try to promote peace, multilateral dialogue between states in order to seek the right solution to problems. The message of the Church is the message of the Gospel, blessed are the peacemakers; I do not see my role as that of a politician, I do not want to enter into a debate with him. Too many people are suffering in the world.”
