So we’re doing a naval blockade to try and end a naval blockade?

Levin: The vast majority of us do not directly feel any negative impact from this military operation like past generations have other than a temporary increase in a gallon of gasoline… We don’t have a draft, those in the military chosen voluntarily to be in the military. Unlike the prior generations, there really is no significant sacrifice for us if you really think about it

A blockade to block the blockade that's blocking the Strait that wasn't blocked before being blocked due to war of choice launched by Trump. Strategery!

@SRuhle you send 2 real estate bros and a venture capitalist to “negotiate” with 4 Iranians with PhDs… yeah it was just a show. Iran showed up with 120 pages of documents and agreements and we came with a couple of pages with broad outlines.

If NO members of the negotiating team stayed behind to seek new inroads, does that mean it was all just for show & would give justification to immediately escalate?

Am I the only one who is curious about the two F-15 crewmen shot down and rescued in Iran? Isn't it strange that we've heard nothing about them?

Yep. By abandoning the JCPOA and then once again by starting this war, Trump has completely negated and inverted the incentives the Iranian regime once had to negotiate with us. They once understood that refraining from producing HEU and interfering with navigation of the Strait would avert the cost of being subjected a large-scale air attack. But now that we've conducted that attack, and they've withstood it, they have virtually no incentive to refrain from doing the things we want them to refrain from doing. Which is why we negotiated the JCPOA in the first place, and why no prior American administration (from Reagan to Trump I) ever decided to start the war that Trump started last month.
Richard N. Haass@RichardHaass

Negotiations always reflect realities on the ground, so US efforts to impose peace terms on Iran were destined to fail. that said, the 1st round of talks always have a throat clearing quality, so chances of a breakthrough were negligible. the diplomatic dance is just beginning.

@elonmusk with all that is going on and YOU being a big part of the reason when you bought the WH for a fat, old, incompetent man child, you complain about you, you, you, getting mistreated by South Africa?

South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect whatsoever anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACISTS!
DogeDesigner@cb_doge

Why Elon Musk is RIGHT to fight South Africa’s racist rules blocking Starlink? Imagine this: Long ago, South Africa had very unfair laws called apartheid. They treated Black people badly and kept them from good jobs and money. When those bad laws ended, the country made new rules (called B-BBEE) to help Black people get a fair share of business. The idea was good – like a big helping hand. But now? For companies like Starlink to sell fast internet, they MUST give away 30% of their business to Black partners. Just because of skin color. Elon Musk was born in South Africa. He left as a teen to chase big dreams. Today, his company SpaceX wants to bring Starlink – super fast satellite internet – to South Africa. But the rules say no unless they give up part of the company. Elon said it right: “Starlink is not allowed because I’m not Black.” SpaceX promised to spend about $30 million (that’s 500 million rand!) to give FREE high-speed internet to 5,000 rural schools. That helps over 2.4 MILLION kids every year learn better, get jobs later, and have a brighter future. Real help for the people who need it most! Starlink already works in about 24 other African countries. Villages there now have internet for school, doctors, and business. South Africa’s villages are missing out because of these racist rules. Elon isn’t asking for special favors. He just wants fair play so Starlink can connect everyone fast. Internet = education, jobs, hope. Why hold back millions of kids over rules that pick by race and color?

Trump just flipped the Strait narrative from open it to block it, turning it into an Iran versus the rest of world pressure test while oil flows still hold around 80% of normal. But the real constraint is structural: Iran cannot push Hormuz too far without hitting China’s red lines, since Beijing is the dominant buyer and can either enforce discipline or accelerate bypass routes like pipelines and overland corridors. That creates leverage, but it is asymmetric. If Iran overuses it, it loses it. Clever move by Trump, in my opinion!

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Is Trump aware that, in order to enforce a naval blockade, he needs an actual U.S. Navy fleet in the Persian Gulf, which means putting American sailors as sitting ducks in Iran’s backyard?

Fox News: You said hundreds of super tankers are headed to the Gulf of America to buy oil and gas from the US. What can you tell us about that? Trump: Well, I can tell you that it used to be called the Gulf of Mexico. Now it's called the Gulf of America because of me. One of my little sidelines. People are so happy. I must tell you, I was thinking about calling it the Gulf of Trump.

@stelzner_n1150 because he knows HE is a HUGE reason we ended up with this fat, old, incompetent, demented brained man child but hey his $250M saw the multiple investigations into his companies disappear and his net worth has increased $400B (!!) in just these last 16 months so good ROI.

@atrupar This is exactly why Trump operates on a different level. He understands leverage, geopolitics, and economic pressure in ways career politicians never will. A naval blockade here isn’t reckless, it’s strategic dominance. This is what decisive leadership looks like.

Trump on the phone with Maria Bartiromo: "We don't get our oil from there. We have so much oil. We have boats pouring up to the United States. They'll be filling 'em up, and they'll be leaving and they'll be packed with the best oil you can get. Light, sweet, crude. We don't need the strait."
