Per Axios: Fable 5 is expected to be back and available starting next week. Let’s hope it won’t be too heavily guardrailed or lobotomized, and that access will be broad.

About 100 organizations got access to fable 5/mythos 5 again. Department of commerce is slowly lifting the embargo for those models. However, I still think that public access will remain heavily restricted—either with significantly stricter guardrails or a lobotomized model.

I swear this entire world is a fking joke. OpenAI named its 3 new models Sol, Terra, and Luna. So… somewhere inside OpenAI, a crypto intern put the 2022 collapse starter pack into a naming doc as a joke. Then 14 directors, 6 branding people, 3 lawyers, and one guy named Chad from product all said: BEAUTIFUL. Ship it. Yea, this feels like the future. Is someone trying to warn us about the post-IPO price action?
OpenAI@OpenAI

Sol is our new flagship and a step function better than GPT-5.5. Terra delivers performance competitive to GPT-5.5 at 2x lower cost. Luna is our most cost-efficient model, delivering strong capability at our lowest cost. Together, the GPT-5.6 family gives people and developers more choice in how they balance intelligence, speed, and cost.

Since June 12, we’ve been working closely with the US government to restore access to Claude Mythos 5 and Fable 5. Today, the government notified us that Mythos 5, our strongest cybersecurity model, can be redeployed to a set of US organizations that operate and defend critical infrastructure. We’re restoring access for these organizations quickly, and we’re continuing to work with the government to expand access to Mythos 5 and make Fable 5 available for general use again.

Mythos-level intelligence was officially the cap for public access to frontier models. This GPT-5.6 situation is just depressing. The best technology ever built on earth is being walled off from the people who'd actually build the future with it. What makes it so disappointing isn't the safety concern - that's definitely real and worth taking seriously. It's the fact that the moment we genuinely get a huge leap, it gets taken away. Anyone who actually used Fable knows how massive that jump was. It wasn't incremental. It was the kind of progression that genuinely changes what's possible. It feels like AI progress will significantly slow from here. And as an AI-powered business owner myself, I hope I'm wrong.

Good new first: Sol is a smart, efficient, and a significant step forward. It is the same price as GPT-5.5. Also launching in the GPT-5.6 family is Terra, with 5.5-level performance at half the price. Bad news: at the request of the US government, it is launching today in limited preview instead of the open access launch we were planning on. We are working with the government to get to general availability as fast as we can. I think it is quite reasonable to roll out models--especially as they reach significant new levels of capability--in this way. It fits with our long-held strategy of iterative deployment. But this isn't quite the process that we think is optimal. Now we will with the government to attempt to get to a transparent, reliable process for early access, and to ensure that as long as our safeguards work as intended we can release widely. We want to be a reliable, dependable partner that works with all stakeholders, and we also want to live by our mission of benefiting all of humanity. I believe the government shares most of our goals, and that they are overall doing a good job in a very difficult situation. We will work as quickly as we can to get this model in your hands and we hope you will love it.

The fact that they can call their models Sol, Terra, and Luna without anyone batting an eye shows how thoroughly crypto has faded from tech relevance, due to memes. Crypto Renaissance needed.

when technology that is complicated for most people to understand is deployed in an absurdly easy way I would say that's when we see an inflection point I'll use myself as an example I'm not a developer & I don't have the knowledge of one it is what it is but I am aware that there are services that are essential to develop any business or idea but these services are so expensive or complex to handle that not only can you not access them due to cost but you also can't develop that idea on your own so you need someone else to do it for you (which makes it even more expensive) & don't even get me started on centralization in this @linq_ai dashboard everything is laid out for us & you just have to choose the template that best fits the idea you have you don't have to configure anything complex on your own crypto should feel like this: use cutting-edge technology without even knowing we're using cutting-edge technology
