@VitalikButerin And ability to filter tweets that only contain a blue check mark - change user behavior so that tweets are expected to be from verified accounts - immediately makes bot farms extremely expensive.

How well this works depends on exactly how much due diligence is done to make sure blue checks are who they say they are. "Pay $8/month and call yourself whatever" would damage the blue check's anti-scam role. But if there's more actual verification, the result is very different.

A bit of clarification is in order: We’re not big fans of these, as in, not big fans of patents and federated consensus. We did say we like #Hashgraph and we stand by it. The point is that in our view, #Algorand provides a better type of governance, and patents limit innovation.

#Hashgraph and #Algorand are both at the cutting edge of the #blockchain tech. The key difference between the two is that Hashgraph has federated consensus, not unlike #FB’s #Libra. It’s also patented. We’re not big fans of these, as this hurts innovation and decentralization.
