Most Anti-junta fighters & fundraisers rely on FB, but FB Myanmar policy managers suppress their posts (no rules break!). We also rarely see news unless we intentionally search and visit the pages. Instead, we see more fake news & junta propaganda these days. Why is that @Meta?

Min Aung Hlaing is reprising history in Myanmar, doffing his uniform and appointing himself president—but a change of clothes cannot mask the unprecedented chaos and collapse of his reign. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar bit.ly/4vi3j8D

UN Special Rapporteur Tom Andrews
As Myanmar's military-dominated parliament selects junta leader Min Aung Hlaing as president, the democratically elected president Win Myint remains behind bars with thousands of other political prisoners. This theatre of the absurd must not be recognized by the int'l community.

The amount of American involvement in Myanmar is minimal. Claims to the contrary are fantasy imo. Ethnic Armed Organizations have long, storied histories and their own income streams, many of which are unsavory and linked with other regional actors. Meanwhile, pro-democracy resistance groups built their armories from the ground up, literally. Pro-democracy factions went from muskets and single-shot bolt action craft made rifles and smuggled in guns from Thailand to assault rifles and machine guns by killing their way to victory and through some limited support from EAOs. Westerners going to Myanmar mostly consist of anti-fascists, or are humanitarians working with the Free Burma Rangers. Anyone talking about the FBR moving guns is an idiot. Their goal is to empower and train local medical personnel to save lives, while also working with local Christians. I have no idea what Matthew Van Dyke and those Ukrainians were doing but they were likely going to link up with the CNA in Chin state, where there is an active drone program by resistance groups and where internationalist anti-fascists are based. People are making plenty of stories about things there’s no evidence for. Ukrainians being somewhere is not evidence of Ukrainian govt or U.S. govt involvement. There is a desire from many across the globe to acquire expertise from Ukrainians, licitly or illicitly.

#KNU reports the Burmese military junta committed war crimes & atrocities against civilians in the Kyauk Kyi area during ongoing fighting with KNU & allied forces. The deliberate targeting of civilians is a grave violation of international humanitarian law

@EUMyanmar Let's not forget what they are capable of. These released prisoners have "tags" now which would only leads to more arrests.

With the junta's latest announcement of IMEI phone registration for all new phones, they are now much more capable of tracking everyone's movements/financial activities combined with existing PSMS jointly developed with the help of China and Russia. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
