Urgent Appeal for Justice: Intervention Regarding the Recent Arrests of Innocent Traders in Jos. ​I am writing to formally call upon the leadership of JOMUPSEC and MULAN (Jos Branch) to take decisive action regarding the recent wave of arrests carried out by the Department of State Services (DSS) following the tragic incidents at Angwan Rukuba. ​While we stand firmly with the pursuit of justice for all victims of violence, we are deeply concerned by mounting evidence that innocent traders and family men are being detained as scapegoats. Reports from market unions and distraught families suggest that many of those in custody are legitimate businessmen with no connection to these crimes. ​When both the bereaved and the accused are crying out for justice, it is a clear signal that the investigation requires greater scrutiny. To prevent the prosecution of the innocent while the real perpetrators remain free, we urge our Muslim leaders and legal experts to intervene through the following actions: ​1- Establish a dedicated volunteer legal team to monitor these cases, provide representation, and ensure that the judicial process remains transparent and fair. ​2- Initiate a formal dialogue with the DSS and relevant state authorities to highlight the grievances of the market community and demand a fact-based investigative approach. ​3- Publicly call on the government to uphold the rule of law. Punishing the innocent does not bring closure; it only breeds resentment and undermines the fragile peace in Plateau State. ​Justice must be a shield for the innocent and a sword only for the guilty. We cannot remain silent while families suffer under the weight of wrongful accusations. We look forward to your proactive leadership in ensuring that truth prevails.
