happy 2025! i realized i haven't introduced myself i'm ela, i'm the new chief of staff at @shefiorg i have an odd background- i studied film in LA. we weren't bad- our senior year thesis project even went to @Festival_Cannes i loved storytelling, but i didn't want to work in film because i felt disillusioned with hollywood. i got into web3 because i felt like it offered solutions to a lot of those problems, but i didn't realize i could be a part of it without knowing how to code. after that, i lived in 15 different countries working as a freelance creative director. i got to shoot big wave surfers in nazare and interview a famous mobster's family for a doc about prohibition era whiskey. i had the time of my life. but after all that, what brought me back home was feeling like i lacked community. i moved to new york and got hired by a web3 startup as a social media manager. i made cool stuff, but i actually did a really bad job getting followers- i didn't understand the space at all. (thank you @natalianmurillo for not disowning me) but i did put in the work to do better, and as i kept trying to learn about crypto, i met maggie at an nyc tech week event, joined @shefiorg, and got hired soon after. i felt like i'd found the home base i was looking for. being part of a company onboarding and building the largest community of women+ in web3 has been truly inspiring (tho i'm happy @riotstef is our social media manager and not me). every day i get to be awed by what @maggielove_ built and by the serious difference it's made in the space so, that's me. i'm constantly learning and always want to connect. just send me a dm :) (also, a huge thanks to @kashvii for being my guide and literally making a presentation for me about how to post on x)

Had a great time chatting with @kashvii @asiangirlintech @gglangt on @worldofwomenxyz TTIW earlier about making friends in crypto. Feel like I owe the conversation a post. Made me think more about intention with relationships. 1) I've got a responsibility in my professional role to primarily get the most from our resources. To do that I need to give a great first impression - professional, knowledgable, authoritative and an authentic, warm honest, human being. I'm often the first person people speak to at Hype so I'm representing a lot of what the company stands for. 2) Personal interest. There are some people who are really inspiring that I have a great rapport with that I want to stay in touch with regardless of work. These people are ones I respect, who can be considered mentors in some way. It's maybe a little selfish, but you can't stay "friends" with everyone, so I want to maintain relationships with people where I can also get some value that can help me in terms of career, work, new knowledge etc. Value exchange is important from both sides. (i'm generally not looking for a bunch of new shit-talking besties - already got them) 3) Giving back. How can I help others getting into the space; great projects who aren't at a stage of being clients yet; support other marketers in fighting the good fight to get marketing valued as it should be. Being a mentor myself. 4) Getting to know our team better. We're a big team and I have only maybe met 25% in person. They are awesome! @hypepartners Few takeaways from the other speakers. Kashvi, (thanks so much for the invites and topic instigation) said some very kind things about Hype and we do have some awesome research reports available through the website. She also had an excellent analogy about balancing my golden retriever nature with a german shepherd 😂 woof! Grace, personal posts matter and are as important to support the brand you work for. The people that a brand hire to represent them speak a lot to the brand itself. Don't hide in the back. Alice, don't shy away from being active in your local community in person. we did a thing. i wrote a thing. it almost feels surreal that the @worldofwomenxyz rebrand is out there. this was a project that stretched every aspect of my brand knowledge, taking me beyond the limits of my comfort and forcing me to embrace the trailblazing, bold, pioneering spirit (with a cypherpunk nod) this brand aims to embody. this was an entire team effort--every single person at wow contributed. i also have to give big 💐flowers to our creative partner--@hypepartners--for doing an absolutely stellar job revolutionizing our brand identity in a totally aligned way, and for leading us gracefully through a big transition (@cryptokwueene, Uma 🫶). ps, they just won 4 awards for their work with optimism and taiko so def check them out. a special shout-out to @JordanZucch, who has been the wow brand's champion and steward; he grew with me as we embraced change, iterated together, and rolled-out an identity across channels of which we are proud (couldn't have done it without @adelinahaha @samanthajasmine @julzynft). i'll stop yapping about it, but you can dive more into my brain here: news.worldofwomen.xyz/making-bold-mo…
