We are banning social media access for under 16s. These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life. I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.

The worrying part isn’t politicians wanting more control—that’s hardly a new invention. The worrying part is how many people enthusiastically hand it over and then act shocked when it’s used. But don’t worry. Restricting speech, controlling information, and expanding state power has never led anywhere uncomfortable before. I’m sure this time will be completely different.
