@nacholeber If we had a competent GM in place we would have drafted Kyle Hamilton and wouldn’t need to draft another safety. Could use this draft pick on other needs.

Twins’ first real lineup shakeup of the season: Byron Buxton is back in the leadoff spot. Trevor Larnach takes over the No. 2 spot and Luke Keaschall stays at No. 3.

@AaronGleeman Put Buck back in the leadoff spot - give your best hitter the most at bats. He was great in that role last year.

@TwinsCentral1 Buxton was so good in the lead off spot last year - I would just put him leading off vs both righties and lefties. Adjust the rest of the lineup based on righties or lefties.

Look, I like Kody Clemens, but leading off a guy with a .286 against RHP in the 2nd game of the season is awful from the new skipper (Clemens will almost certainly have an amazing game today now)

Twins' lineup for Game 2 vs. right-hander Kyle Bradish and the Orioles in Baltimore: 1B Kody Clemens, L CF Byron Buxton, R 2B Luke Keaschall, R RF Matt Wallner, L DH Josh Bell, S C Ryan Jeffers, R LF Trevor Larnach, L 3B Royce Lewis, R SS Brooks Lee, S SP Taj Bradley, RHP

Finch's timeout usage in 4Q was fine. He saved both. One timeout, at 34 seconds, set up a 2-for-1 with a Randle bucket. Had the other left in case HOU scored. Away from play foul, then chaos ensued, opted not to use it after Reid steal in hopes of scoring amid scramble. All fine
The Goose comedy page@GooseOD

@ChristopherHine Should not have gone to overtime, finch just watching the lead disappear, no time out , not a good game manager.

@JonKrawczynski His teammates won’t say it but you can see they are frustrated playing with him. He makes you change how u play offensively because you can’t just pass him the ball like you would a normal player. He either won’t catch it or if he does won’t be able to do anything with it.

Wolves with another bad loss at home. Led the Pels by 18 in the third and took their foot off the gas. Couldn't stop Zion going to the rim. 29 points on 11-13 FG, every single one of them at the rim.

Another perk of the Wolves getting under the 1st apron with the Mike Conley trade… They are able to sign buyout players who were making more than the MLE ($14.1M) on the contract they are being bought out of. That opens the possibility for players who could theoretically be bought out like… Khris Middleton ($33M expiring) John Collins ($27M expiring) DeMar DeRozan ($25M expiring) Jusuf Nurkic ($19M expiring) Zach Collins ($18M expiring) Bogdan Bogdanovic ($16M, team option next season — think that works) Don’t know how many of these players with become available, but if above the 1st apron, it would be against the rules for them to be bought out and sign with the Wolves.
Dane Moore@DaneMooreNBA

The Wolves moved beneath the 1st apron by trading Mike Conley to Chicago without receiving anything in return. Without dipping beneath the 1st apron, the Wolves would not have been able to make this trade for Ayo Dosunmu -- because the Wolves took back more money in this deal than they sent out (something you can't do when above the 1st apron). - Dillingham + Miller = $8,797,797 - Dosunmu + Phillips = $9,740,195 The Wolves can also finalize the Ayo Dosunmu part of the trade by using the trade exception from the Nickeil Alexander-Walker trade, but you can't use trade exceptions from a prior season when above the 1st apron. To get under the 1st apron, the Wolves traded away Mike Conley and they gave up a pick swap with Detroit in this summer's draft (with today's standings, that means the Wolves would drop from the 23rd pick to the 29th pick in June). The Wolves also remain under the 1st apron, and well beneath the 2nd apron, after this move.

@RandBall Ayo was a good get. Filled our biggest need - bench depth and scoring - without giving up any key piece of the team. Hopefully fill one more spot from the buyout market with a 2/3 who can score (DeRozen would be great) or a veteran big who can shoot for some depth.

OK, the trade deadline has passed. Wolves traded out Mike Conley Jr. to save a bunch of money (but could get him back in the buyout market) and dealt Dilly plus a bunch of 2nds for Ayo Dosunmu. No Giannis, but maybe laid groundwork for a summer move. Grade? I'll say a B. You?

@JonKrawczynski Jon - think they will try to re-sign Slo-Mo if he gets released by Memphis. Adds some much needed bench depth if he gets released

On a flight to Toronto as we speak. I’m told the Conley deal is still being finalized. Still more parts to work through. Can’t say enough about the pro Mike was in Minnesota. Vital to the previous two runs
