It’s remarkable this alpha is free. For the price of 2 hours, you can be top 0.1% informed about the ai landscape. More broadly, picking the right info defaults (Stratechery Daily, Marginal Revolution, following good people on X) has the same impact, and it compounds.

This is my fifth conversation with @GavinSBaker. Gavin understands semiconductors and AI as well as anyone I know and has a gift for making sense of the industry's complexity and nuance. We discuss: - Nvidia vs Google (GPUs + TPUs) - Scaling laws and reasoning models - The economics of AI compute - Why Blackwell's delay mattered - The bear case on the AI capex buildout - Data centers in space - The mistake SaaS companies are making Few people love investing more than Gavin. His closing answer about why he loves it turned into a full reflection on his investing origin story, which I had never heard before. Enjoy! Most people never get to see how brilliant they can be. It’s just a matter of being impatient and doing things before you’re ready just to make them exist. The version you’ve been wanting to become can wait no longer. Literally just do things.

@edwinarbus @cursor_ai Undoubtedly one of the most rad 'next chapter' announcements I've seen here or anywhere else for that matter of fact. Congrats and wishing you the v. best Edwin!

During especially bad economic times, B2B = back to banking and B2C = back to consulting. I don't make the rules but just an observation

if I received a dollar for every time a VC provided me with unsolicited advice, that in itself would be a major liquidity event

When you write down your problems, you can contain them within the bounds of your words, miniaturize their enormity, and reduce their fearsome character. Objectively, you’ve defined and characterized them. But when you let them run wild in your unbounded imagination, these problems don’t just persist but thrive. They grow unchecked to become more vicious, larger, and seemingly uncontainable, before consuming your mental real estate night and day.

I reckon we may be heading towards an era where we are time rich but purpose poor. How we deal with this identity challenge may prove to be one of the most significant. The take’s probably wrong but directionally correct.
