Why do Americans say ‘math’ rather than ‘maths’, since it’s obviously shorthand for mathematics (plural). ⁉️
Andrew Neil@afneil
Why don’t they pronounce the ‘h’ in herbs. It makes no sense.

When I was living in South Korea a decade ago, there was an infamous incident involving an heiress to the family behind Korean Airlines. After getting into her first class seat, a steward handed her a bag of nuts. She immediately flipped out on him, as she thought the nuts should be warmed & served in a dish. She tried ejecting the steward from the plane, making such a scene that the flight was ultimately delayed 20 minutes. The incident became public, the media quickly dubbing it “Nutgate.” I remember when the heiress, Heather Cho, returned to Korea and apologized to the whole nation, hanging her head in shame (what you see below).
Cho ultimately resigned from one of her several executive positions at Korean Air & was subsequently found guilty in a South Korean court of obstructing aviation safety and given a twelve-month prison sentence, of which she served five months.
I bring this up because … I can’t shake the feeling her behavior wasn’t quite as bad as what we’re seeing in the Epstein Files.

@ChrisLangWriter I stupidly stared at it for ages and wondered how discreet they were - then I bloody noticed! FFS!

So ICE pepper spray, disarm & then execute a male nurse trying to protect a woman in #Minnesota & will investigate themselves
Days after killing a woman, blaming her for it & closing investigation
Both in full view of cameras
Does make you wonder what they do when cameras off?

Carole Cadwalladr, "The United States and it's Silicon Valley allies are not our friends, they are clearly not serving the interest of peace, harmony and democracy"
"It's a small group of individuals with a bunch of vested interests who have grasped control of the US executive, and Donald Trump who is the front guy, he is now breaking rule of law on a daily basis"
"There is still this hesitancy amongst mainstream news organisation, politicians, to name these things clearly"
"It's important that we are clear about what we are seeing and naming it"
Zack Polanski, "I think that's really well put.. And I'm worried that Keir Starmer has tied his foreign policy to the US and to Donald Trump, and that's been problematic for lots of reasons"
"We saw someone murdered on the streets - Renee Good - and Keir Starmer has not condemned that"
Carole Cadwalladr, "You can understand the reasons how they got themselves into this bind of sucking up to Trump and not p*ssing him off"
"But at the same time it is deeply dangerous to have a Prime Minister who cannot say black is black and white is white, and international law is international law, and this is clearly in breach of it"
"Labour is in a state of denial, it will not say those words, that I do find it really alarming"

Back in the 1960s and 70s, homeowners across the world embraced fuzzy woollen toilet covers as part of matching bathroom sets. These kits included thick, colorful pile wraps for the lid, tank, and even the floor mat, turning bathrooms into cozy, carpeted spaces. The trend faded out because keeping all that fabric clean turned into a real hassle.
What’s the weirdest interior design trend you remember from your childhood home?
